Probably the most famous and infamous story about John is the one about the three men and the pencil. To hear this story over and over again is a sign of what a hole John left behind and how high he set the bar for all those who came after him. With a simple, ordinary pencil, he killed three men who were trying to kill him. Not many saw it, but the right ones did.

But what many do not know is that John also laid the solid foundation for the Tarasov's. To get out, to quit the job, to turn his back on the world, Viggo gave him one of the very last orders, which was impossible to fulfill, but Viggo knew that, so he finally gave him this one. And even though Viggo knew that John was the best man he ever had, he was to be proven wrong in the end, because it turned out to be a massacre.

It was only afterwards that I learned that Santino D'Antonio had helped John in some way, and so the first coin was handed over. The second was mine. John should have had three in total, but he refused to take the first one. That day he just said that sooner or later I would be able to return the favor and that one coin was not worth it. On the day he got out, however, he was given a coin that he couldn't even refuse this time, saying, "I owe you more than one life is worth, and I want you to cash it. The third coin Winston would give John would change hands on my worst day.

The clock was ticking and John's last words before he was released were, "I should finally learn Russian. To this day, that has never happened. Not only did John leave Viggo Tarasov that day, but so did I. I went to see Abrams Tarasov, Viggo's brother. And it was the best decision I could have made, but again, I would discover that only in the future.
