What could be said about the Bowery King?

There wasn't much information about the Bowery King's past. Even Alice only knew the stories that had been told about them.

A long time ago, John had been warned or attacked, but he had survived. No one survived the bogeyman, and that gave him a certain respectability. Two scars were the reminder of John Wick and their encounter.

Soon after, the man soon to be known as the Bowery King took control of a soup kitchen and a homeless shelter, where he created his future underground empire. A large number of beggars and vagrants were recruited to act as his eyes and ears in the city.

The man was not stupid, either, as he began training pigeons to act as messengers, creating a vast news and data network throughout New York. One that could be used without the Internet or telephones, so that he himself remained anonymous and untraceable.

All of this made Bowery an adjutant of the High Table, which meant that he was bound by the rules but could still act independently.

And he was exactly the man John was looking for when he returned to New York from Rome, after the seven million had been put on his head.
