The debt that every person who hands over a debt coin must pay. No ifs, ands, or buts. No discussion. Those are the rules. The rules that everyone accepted and submitted to when they entered. There was no exception or loophole that would ever prevent it.
At this point, one question:
What is the debt that everyone pays?Another rule was: No business and no bloodshed on the land of Continental Hotels. A point that will still be (extremely) devastating. And the reason for the worst day ever.
At least in mine.
The midnight arrival of a new guest at the Continental was usually nothing out of the ordinary, whether it was Santino or someone else entirely. After all, the Continental was still a hotel. Perhaps the term "guest" was a bit of a misnomer at this point, as the Italian had only stopped by to complain about John's behavior with Winston.
"You couldn't have made a more stupid decision than the one you just made," Alice Santino said as she left the elevator and the dark-haired man and his companion were about to get on, "You know John and yet you make this decision to show him that you have everything right in the world right now? Not very bright, as far as you can tell."
"You're still defending the man responsible for the death of your former employer," the Italian replied in astonishment, giving his companion some kind of silent instruction, causing her to nod and get out immediately, giving Alice a look that could not be interpreted, "He refused to pay his debt. I had the right to make an example of him."
Santino D'Antonio may have been right to make such an example, but sometimes one should renounce one's right. The day always came when, for good reason, to avoid worse consequences, one should not claim one's right. This would have been an example of how not to do it.
Especially since one should never complain to one's friends. And then to those who are supposed to help you.
Answer: Death.
The debt that every person settles at some point is death.
