It was full moon day, Petros had never been able to sleep, he did not receive any response from Sirsi. He suspected that Nalan would have dismissed the idea of her return from London. After all, he is the brother and he has every right to do so. But, Petros believed that Sirsi will come, it wasn't just his confidence from his discovery but he believed in the words of their ancestors. Though he graduated and received a doctorate for his work, he firmly believed about his past and the purpose of his life. As his grandparents said, they were the only destined people to find the lost treasure. Though the pain and struggles of being an immigrant has changed many fates, he still wished to return to Srilanka.
His father saw Petros looking at the moon unmoving, he was puzzled. Petros is highly energetic and would never be idle for a while. This puzzled John, he handed a cup of tea, Petros looked at his father deeply and sighed. "Worry about something else for a change", said John. He smiled, Petros replied "Am not worried anymore, it's going to happen". John laughed sarcastically, "This isn't your silly video games, you have no hacks Petros". John had no response, he shrugged off and went to work on his laptop. John was worried, he thought this madness had been past. They moved ahead, but seems like it's not!
Next day morning, Nalan and John were conversing about Petros recent discovery. John was puzzled, he did not even guess that Petros recent treks had led to this event. Nalan was very determined, "It's past, we are not going back to it". John, agreed but was not sure. Nalan was puzzled at his uncle's response, he diverted the topic and mentioned that he has to work upon the wedding ceremony, it was fixed in September. "We just have two more months to prepare for the wedding,we will do this in India, getting back to Srilanka doesn't seem like a good option right now". John wasn't able to listen to him, he vaguely uttered, we will discuss this with Sirsi she has to plan her leaves as well.
Sirsi, was not able to concentrate on her classes. She was determined not to set her feet back on her village anytime soon. She refused to respond to Petros as well. After her classes, she would meet her friend Bobby, he seemed to be an escape from all this drama. She discussed about her interest in the next project that was coming up in the YCR college, she can be part of well known researchers crew leaving for Combodia for a new research project. They had dinner in their favourite restaurant, and she drove to her apartment. It was already late, Bobby decided to crash in her place, he felt that it would be better if he spends some more time with her. She has been a fantasy for him, but Sirsi had taken him only as a friend.
Bobby relaxed on the couch and was tuning the TV to watch super bowl, he was waiting for Sirsi. She was picking some letter from mail box, but the mail box was damaged. Few bits of paper hang in the cracks of the box. She wondered, and looked around. There was no one, it is pretty cold out here! She mumbled as she walked on the stairs.. She removed her long dark green coat and hanged it on the tall holder, she asked Bobby if he noticed anyone while entering home. He was busy watching super bowl, he giggled and said "Ya this guy here is missing.. have you donated him to museum finally like I said??!!".
Sirsi ran towards the main hall, the Nataraja statue is missing!!!..
