CH.7 The Sleep

Narrator pov

It's been a week since the end of the battle for the spire with the army of undead.

Rayla still in deep sleep from her injury is beginning to get better but Callum still never leaves her side except when zym or the Queen requests him.

The dragon king has been healed but is still weak from his injury zubeia
(I can't remember how to spell her name for the life of me) has started to search out spies to infiltrate the instigator ranks.

Callum remembering one of the reasons they came to the spire ran to his room from the infirmary and grabbed a small leather bag that singled when he moved it, running to zym he quickly got there and said "Raylas parents see in these coins and we think that only you can release them" zym looking surprised at Callums haste nods and says "I know little of magic let me get my mother she will know what to do" as he walked towards were his mother was having an audience with the leaders of the earthblood elves.

Callum twiddling his thumbs sits down and looks at each coin wondering "am I gonna die when the find out Rayla and me are a thing?"

Zuni a walking in with zym behind her says "where are the coins we must get them out that magic is a form of torture beyond belief" as Callum sat the coins down on the ground he backed up and Zubia fired 3 bolts of lightning into the coins destroying them and releasing a smoke cloud.

As 3 figures begin to stand up they all call out for each other "l..lain" "t..t...tiadrin" two of the figures spoke stepping into a hug.

Callum wondering where Runaan was, wondered too late when a felt someone kick him in the shin and Callum fell over yelling.

"Who are you human, where are we"
Runaan hissed.

"Calm down runaan I...."
As runaan cut him off mid-sentence by kicking him at the base of his spine.

"Try again human where are we?"
He sounded very angry.

"T..the storm spire," Callum said getting ready for another attack, then out of nowhere Zubia slammed her tail
In between the two saying "Runaan please don't kill your future son in law".

Callum wincing at the title figured he could hobble about 5 paces before he died so he just sat there waiting.

"Wait WHAT" Callum heard 3 voices tell and then noticing the fog is gone sees 3 heads swivel towards him.

"My queen why is there a human in here" Lain spoke breaking the silence, "That is a long story I will tell you after Runaan sees Ethari and you all visit Rayla in the Infirmary, Callum why don't you take our guests there now.

Getting up Callum realized he's gonna walk through corridors alone with 3 of the most dangerous elves of all time and they all probably want to kill him.

"follow me we will see Ethari first," he said walking down a corridor.

Lain and tiadrin worried about Rayla asked: "why is she in the infirmary?"

"She was injured while fighting undead soldiers to save some youngling dragons, me Ethari, and zym, she's been asleep for a week." Callum said on the verge of tears.

Tiadrin seeing this walked up and patted his shoulder changing the subject "so your the lucky one who gets to marry my daughter." Callum perking up says "yes I am her fiancee funny thing is the first time we met she was trying to kill me my brother and my dad" Callum remembering that night at the castle turns down another corridor "we are almost to Ethari's room" Runaan and lain then ganged up on Callum "if you hurt her we will hunt you down and tear out your organs one by one until your heart is left and then we will kill you."

Callum getting the picture says "ok ok I get it honestly I don't think I could hurt her without a reason and that reason would be to protect her if it required it" he said then quickly knocked on the closest door "Ethari I have a surprise" "Raylas awake" Ethari said running to the door "no it's better for you."

Opening the door Ethari almost screamed with delight at seeing runaan and his friends pulling runaan into a hug he said "your back at last" tears welling in his eyes Ethari invited them all in.

Using his chance he escaped back to the room Rayla was in before Ethari could invite him.

"I wonder where he rushed off to," tiadrin said sitting down on the sofa.

"Probably to Raylas side he almost never leaves her I'm surprised he made it all the way to my room, I thought he would have had another elf escort you here, " Ethari said sitting next to Runaan on the sofa while lain said in an armchair.

"Well, I need everyone's opinion of him so I can set you all straight" Ethari said sternly surprising everyone.

"Well Rayla loves him, and that's all I need to know honestly" Tiadrin said folding her arms.

"I hate him he's the son of the man who killed the king," Runaan said acidly.

"Ru he's the stepson and The dragon king killed the boy and his brother's mother so of course the king got his revenge, not to justify it but they had a reason," Ethari said.

Lain chiming in "he seems to love her more than life it's self and if it cost his life to save hers I think he'd do it, though his death probably would kill her if she loves him anywhere near as much as he loves her."

"Ok ru you have 2 options 1 you like him and you can stay in this room with me and i won't give you the cold shoulder and 2 you continue to hate him, and you sleep in another room while I give you the cold shoulder."
Ethari said smirking at runaan.

"Fine" Runaan said with pure dusgust.

Meanwhile

Callum sitting next to Rayla recited the whole experience with her parents to her sleeping form.

"Mmmhm that's nice" she said opening her eyes looking at Callum.

Then surprised still Callum hugged her and sat her up against the back of the bed frame beginning to cry with happiness.

"So my parents are out."
