“You’re a traitor! How could I trust you?”
Oh, shoot. This is what I was talking about. I shouldn’t have done it! Idiot, Summer.
“I can explain...”
She laughed sarcastically. I saw pain in her eyes as her tears escaped.
“Explain? No need, Summer. You were liking the situation there. Their right, I shouldn’t have trusted the closest person.”
I can’t help but cry. I felt guilty. All I want is to be happy and to be loved.
“I’m sorry.”
“Will your sorry heal my pain? You know what, Summer? I should have rejected you for asking me to be my friend.”
I admit, everything was just my imagination. People thought I’m the good one and Jade is the opposite. But it’s not.
She’s right, I’m not a good friend. I kneeled infront of her, crying.
“I’m sorry, Jade.”
“Stand up, sweetie. It’s not your fault.”
“You know what? You guys fit each other, traitors.”
She ran away from us. I kept calling her name but she didn’t looked back. What have I done? I’m the worst!
I cried in Kevin’s chest. He was caressing my hair, comforting me. I’m so sorry.
But then I remembered...
“Ezekiel.”
I went to his house the next day. I rang the doorbell multiple times. A woman in her 40’s opened the door.
“Hello, good day...”
“Who are you?”
Her voice was authoritative. She stared at me which made me anxious.
“I’m Summer. Ezekiel’s...”
“You’re not welcome here. Traitors are not welcome here.”
She closed the door but I held it open.
“Please, I just want to talk to him.”
She slapped me. She slapped me?! I cried from the burning pain and caressed my cheek. I froze on my spot and let her shout at me. It’s my fault anyway.
“You’re so dumb for hurting my son! Is that what you are? A stupid bitch hurting people? He loved you! Why did you accept his offer of courting you when at the first place you don’t love him?”
I didn’t answer. I remained quiet without making eye contact with her. She’s right. Their right.
“Are you that stupid?”
“Mom! Who is that?”
I looked up seeing Ezekiel coming down the stairs. I went inside not bothering her Mom. I held his arms.
“Ezekiel, I’m so sorry. Forgive me, please.”
I cried more when he stepped back. As if he doesn’t know me.
“Who are you?”
I cried even more. God, help me.
“I don’t know you. You can leave now.”
Again, another person turned his back away from me. Away from the pain I gave him.
