Mariana Trench

Daylight

{Damian}

I'm starting to think that this was a bad idea. I don't know how long has it been already but I do know that it has been a while... and I am nowhere near the seabed.
Though I am swimming in complete darkness and I can feel the walls closing in as I venture deeper. I can't deny the fact that I'm feeling a slight claustrophobic but I'm not giving up yet.
The waters even colder than above, almost feels like icy temperature, and my scales, just as Iruka said, started glowing the moment I was surrounded by complete darkness. I wasn't lit up like a flashlight but kinda like a glow in a dark sticker kind of glow. Which I think it's better because I don't wanna draw attention towards myself. I have night vision, and I can't see anything but the endless walls surrounding me.

After a while...

Maybe I should just turn back... but then again, maybe not.
There was something down ahead. Something, big. I didn't know what it was until I started getting closer and closer to it. I noticed there was an anchor sticking out of it. And where there's an anchor, there's a ship.
I was expecting to see a huge shipwreck but as I got closer, I noticed that it was a huge metal with an anchor lying next to it. The metal was the size of a car. The weird part is, the metal was all on its own. There was nothing else around it.
I finally reach towards it which means, I've reached the seabed---- finally.
I landed in front of the metal and hunch closer to it. It was covered with corals and weeds in various shapes and sizes. Through the sea plants, there were wordings in red on the metal. It says MH370. I'm guessing it is a part of an airplane that crashed into the ocean long time ago.
God only knows where are the other parts of it or how did it crash... maybe the bermuda triangle? Hmm... I'll have to ask Iruka about that.
I took my eyes off the metal and started looking around. It felt great to have finally reached the end of the Mariana Trench but I don't see any gems.
Did I miss a turn or an entrance to a hidden tunnel on my way down here? Because there's literally nothing else down here, other than that piece of metal.
Suddenly I felt the feelings of failure. I came down here hoping to find a gem for Jon. But there seems to be nothing and I'm just endangering myself down here.
I stopped floating and slowly sank on the seabed. I ran my palms over the sand because it feels so satisfying. I never knew there were different kinds of sand in the ocean. The sand down here feels like powdered sugar than it does on the beach.
I close my eyes and let my finger dance in the sand.

A minute or two...

Everything was so quiet. Too quiet.
Since there was nothing here, I decided to just head back up and be on my way with Iruka and the whale.
I was about to pull my fingers back but my nails felt something, odd under the sand. It felt like a solid material.
My heart started beating very fast thinking that I might have awakened a sea monster that was resting under me.
I carefully circle my nails over the object and tap on it. But nothing moved. I tap on it a little harder on the next and still nothing.
So the good news is, I'm safe. For the bad news--- actually, there is no bad news... not yet anyways.
Since there wasn't a threat under me, I decided to pull out whatever was under me. Maybe it's another piece of the airplane metal.
I got up and push my hand into the sand, and grabbed something that felt like I'm holding a crab and pull it out. Fortunately, it wasn't a struggle.
The moment the object was fully out, I froze because in my grip was a large chunk of gemstone. A blood-red ruby gemstone. In the human world, this is at least 179 carat.
It then hit me that the gems are created and hidden underneath the sand. Just like how pearls are created inside clams and hidden in them.
I quickly put aside the chunk of ruby I was holding and began to dig more. With my fin-like hands, digging became much easier than it does with a human hand.
I kept digging and every time I dug, one diamond lays beneath it. I kept digging till I got tired which was pretty much in no time. Whatever gems that were already out, will have to do. I couldn't really see what shape or condition they're in given to the dark atmosphere but because of my abilities, I was certain that these are diamonds and not some sort of sea creature. If it were to be a creature, I would've felt it's movement and vibration.
I picked up whatever gems I dug out and held them tightly. When I was sure that I didn't leave any gem behind, I wasted no time into returning back to the surface.
With all the happiness I felt in this accomplishment, my tail started swimming faster than usual. At this rate, I'll reach the surface in no time.
            "Mission accomplished."

Disclaimer: MH370 isn't really in the Mariana Trench. It's just made up xD. So is the diamonds created in it.
