Jensen hadn't slept. He was too worried, and anxious to go to sleep. So, awake in the chair across from a Gale all night, he read that damning message over and over, running it through his head. Finally, when the morning arrived, he got up, satisfied, that Gale was safe. He stared at his hands, a flash of haunting images shooting through his head. Pictures of the blood on the walls struck him with boiling rage and terror.
After a long moment of staring at his hands, he noticed blood still remaining on them. He rushed to the bathroom, in attempt to wash the memory off his hands. Meanwhile, Gale had woken up, and was sitting on the edge of her bed, in attempt to recover from the reuccuring nightmares that clung to her all night. She shook her head a little, trying to shake those horrifying thoughts out of her mind. She pulled off her covers weakly, wincing a little at the pain of her body. She stood up, holding onto her side table, due to the weakness in her legs. Jensen walked out of the bathroom, a towel in his hands, but seeing Gale's obvious difficulty in movement, dropped the towel and sped to her side. Gale's eyes widened at his sudden show of kindness, however also causing her to blush at her damned damsel in distress behaviour.
"N-it's- really, I'm fine!" Gale exclaimed, however still holding onto Jensen's arms as she stood up straight.
"I'm not leaving you alone, by yourself. You clearly need help." Jensen threw her a heart warming smile, as he held onto her. Both in an awkward position, Gale being the mighty hero she was, wrestled under his grip, in attempt to let go. The thrashing of her arms caused a dizzy sensation to course through her.
"Woah...." Her head lolled back a little as she experienced light headedness rattle her head.
"Now that is why I'm not letting you go anywhere by yourself." He turned his unscrutable gaze on her, fixing on her eyes. She slowly turned her around, as she too, drowned in his emerald depths. They were inches from each other, their breaths mingling as her eyes darted between his. Finally out of the trance she was caught in, she moved back a little, also bringing Jensen to his senses.
"Come on, you need to have breakfast." Jensen turned around and found Gale to oblige to him. He gently led her into the kitchen and set her down on a chair.
"Quit treating me like a kid," Gale scowled, throwing him a few deadly glares as she set herself against the worktop.
Jensen chuckled a little as he turned around to face her from the fridge.
"I didn't say you were!" Jensen justified, as he sauntered up to her.
"Well your treating me like one!" Gale returned the pout with one of her own.
"Kids are another matter," He smirked as she saw the twinkle in his eyes. Flashing her a coy grin, she picked up an orange from the counter and speared it towards him. With supreme confidence, he caught it with one hand and threw a smile at her.
"Orange?" He gave her a questioning look before turning around and slicing it with deadly precision. Within in a minute, it was served to her.
After washing his hands, he turned around.
"What do you wanna eat?" He rested himself against the countertop and he left Gale to choose.
"There's no need Charming," She pushed herself off the chair causing her pain, however not displaying it. Jensen sighed heavily as he walked up to her weak form.
"Your hurt Gale," The words in themselves caused him to cringe inwardly, "Do you seriously think I'm gonna let you?"
"Well atleast let me try you buffoon!" She snapped as she slowly walked up to the fridge. She pulled some bread and eggs out, and then walking up to the cooker. After having successfully made her food, -praise the lord- she sniffed triumphantly as she walked back to her seat, where she saw Jensen smirking violently.
"HA! That'll show you!" Gale threw Jensen an irrated glance at she sat down to eat. He laughed, as he walked past Gale, rubbing her shoulder, a try at an apology. She mumbled incoherently as she ate- and every so often stabbing her eggs with the fork with more force than necassary. Once Jensen also had made his food, he sat down to eat. Listening to Gale's constant mumbling, laugher bubbled to the surface, his hand trying to rub the grin off his face.
"-then he tells me-" Gale was cut off by Jensen's roaring laughter, his hands pounding against the surface, as if he could quite bear the hilarity of the situation. Amongst the racket, Jensen and Gale hadn't noticed Jared and Gen walk in, smiling like Cheshire cats.
"You got Jensen in stiches already huh?" Jared smirked slightly as he leaned against the far wall. Gale waved at them, her way of saying hello, but she thought it rude to say it with her mouth full. Eating her next mouthful, she knew she was dead. A small piece of egg rebelliously slithered it's way out of her mouth, down her chin, then innocently falling to her lap. She closed her eyes in protestof the situation, as she knew what was coming next. All three of them erupted into hearty laughter, Jared's uncharacteristicly louder than Jensen's. She glared at all of them, her eyes menacing.
"I'm glad your getting a good laugh out of this!"
"Aww ickle Gale getting picked on!"Jared walked over to her, pinching her cheek. She swatted him away before a smile of her own presented itself on her face. They all laughed harder at the look on her face, however when she looked at Gen, she saw something akin to a genuine smile on her face. Gale nodded slightly, knowing why she was smiling. Turning back to twiddle dee and twiddle dumb, she took her toast in one hand, and a handfull of eggs in another. "-stop-" she threw the toast at Jensen, "-laughing!-" and threw the rest of her eggs at Jared. Jensen was now holding onto the worktop, in attempt to keep himself upright. Jared had his head thrown back, laughing his head off. Gen walked over to Gale, and threw a protective arm around her.
"Common guys, shut up!" Gen smiled widely as she glanced at Jensen. After a while of constant laughter, they both piped down, helping Gale to think. Dark thoughts started occurring to her about Jensen; When was he himself going to tell her about him? Why was he hiding it from her?
"We've got more pressing issues we need to discuss." Jared said quietly, looking at Gale and then Jensen. Jensen's face was wiped of all amusement now, a faraway look in his eyes.
"That attack," He gulped painfully, "It was a crime ring leader.. " He paused for a moment, "he's been chasing me for years now. I used to be in the SS when I was 22, and there was one mission that damned my entire existence. I had evidence against him, something that could've brought his whole crime ring crashing down. B-But, "Jensen closed his eyes, as flash of images shot through his head. "But, the bastard killed my family. I needed to get my revenge.. And that's why I've been moving around because I'm trying to track the son of a bitch down." He sighed deeply and opened his eyes, to see Gale's dumbstruck expression. He looked away, expecting silence. However suddenly, he was thrust into a warm embrace, one full of comfort and love. He needn't have known who it was; he ran a caring hand through her hair.
"I'm so sorry.." She whispered, hugging him tighter.
"It isn't your fault." He said quietly, pulling back to look into her face. He looked into her blue pools and found such comfort and love accompanying them. They stared at each other for timeless moments.
"You'll never have to worry about me." Gale said simply, her eyes searching his.
"It's my fault this happened to you. You didn't have to deal with any of this if I wasn't here.. "A idea slithered into his mind, a heart breaking but logical one. He could leave. Leave Gale and let her live.
"If you ever leave me, I swear I'll curse you into oblivion.." Gale's expression and her words should've surprised him, but he found himself drawing her in for another hug.
"You've made my life better in so many ways... I couldn't ever repay you," She muttered into his shoulder, her aroma drugging him. He was finding himself unable to resist her touch any longer. He just wanted to take her in his arms and protect her forever.
"Like I said, I'll always be here for you."
