They had been trudging through snowy highlands for a long time now. How strange it was that spring continued to bring such dreadful weather. Eske was mounted on Kilda's back, lying on the giant wolf's thick cozy fur coat. His fur was tipped with ice and snow all around, yet it seemed he still provided good warmth for Eske.
Just as they had finished climbing a large hill, they could see beyond for miles. In the distance, there was a cliff. It sat at the edge of the plateau, and below it was a wide grass field with a large looming cloud above. As they made their way down, the compass seemed to point towards this cliff. Enar would probably have to find a way to safely descend. As they approached, Enar inspected his surroundings for a possible pathway downwards, when suddenly, the compass turned around. He stopped abrubtly, and so did Kilda, looking at him puzzled. Enar turned around and walked back, noticing the compass's needle had pointed on one specific spot.
Enar was extremely confused. What was happening? This is what Red wanted us to see? A cliff? He kicked at the spot, dug up some dust only to find stone underneath. He desperately searched for something more here. This couldn't be all.
"No... no!... NO!..."
He punched the ground throwing a fit of anger. Eske woke up at his rage, wondering what was happening.
"Enar? What are you doing? What happened?" Eske tiredly said
"It was a lie... it was all a lie!..."
"Enar, calm down. What's going on?"
Enar had his spear out now, on his knees. He raised the weapon in the air as snow began to fall even put here, where it seemed that spring actually existed.
"I'm sick of all these lies! I want the TRUTH!!!"
His spear suddenly began to freeze the form it took was familiar. It began to look like the ice spear Enar found all that time ago. However, Enar was too angry to notice. His eyes were closed.
Eske looked on in disbelief, realizing that his brother, too weilded the magic of ice.
Only a split second later, Enar jabbed the spear deep into the ground. Past the hard stone and all. It cut through the ground like butter. The ground began to rumble as Kilda lowered himself and Eske so that he would not fall. Gripping tightly onto the wolf, Eske braced himself. Ahead of them, over the grassy plane, a bright light began to shine from the large cloud ahead. It shone with such divine light that it would be blinding to people far away. The light then shot forth, a large rainbow pierced the air in an arc from the cloud and landed right where the spear had hit the ground. Enar looked on, confused and shocked. He had no idea what he just did.
The kneeling boy stood up and tocuhed the rainbow in front of him. It felt... solid. He steeped on it and began to walk over it, off of the cliff. It seemed to form a sort of bridge into the clouds.
Eske's chin was dropped
"You don't think this is..." the awed boy said
"Aye, it is lad!" Yelled an echoing voice from the cloud ahead. As the boys, and even the wolf, looked ahead to see where the voice came from, a figure suddenly emerged from the mist. It was a tall man, muscular and tanned. He had a black beard that gave him a fearsome appearance. On his back, a battle axe held bound onto his leather straps. Under the straps his chest was bare and muscular, and over his waist was a blue kilt looking item.
He walked forth towards the boys and grinned a wide smile, revealing his teeth, all golden and brightly shining.
"Welcome, come on now, don't be shy." The man said, motioning them to follow as he began to move back towards the cloud.
