"where is his highness?!"

soobin's voice echoed through the room filled with all of the knights that were under his command, including kai. they flinched, but kai didn't. he was used to his shouting (which was uncommon for a gentle heart that resides in the body of a giant).

one of the knights -really, one of the few female knights in the kingdom, replied, "we haven't seen him all night, sir," jeongyeon replied, not an ounce of fear in her voice. she was a valiant knight, filled with the elegance of a woman, but with the bravery of a man. "i was with tzuyu the whole night, sir."

soobin sighs and runs a hand through his hair in frustration. this was the only time that beomgyu has managed to escape the palace without getting detected, and it made the knight feel stressed and under pressure.

"have you checked everywhere? even in the villages nearby or by the borders of chevaria?" the other knights shook their heads after a moment.

he was full of anger. "then go! all of you shall find where the crown prince is, and if you don't, i will tell the king and queen about their son being missing and the whole kingdom would fucking rejoice. i will not hear any complaints or maids talking about this, and i will not tolerate unacceptable behavior, such as lazing around or doing the same things as the prince usully does, okay. is that clear?"

"yes sir!"

the knights were dispersed and in the room was him, kai, and another knight, the aide of the king, min yoongi.

"how the fuck did he managed to get away that easily?" yoongi commented, groaning as he sat down on one of the chairs, rubbing his temples. yoongi is a far more dangerous entity to deal with if beomgyu were to be here; he wouldn't let the young boy go near his father if he dares so.

kai frowns to himself and sits beside yoongi, feeling slightly brave. "the question is, where would he go at this point? i've never seen him act weirdly like this before."

for soobin, that was a complete lie. he and kai were the only ones who really knows beomgyu, but soobin doesn't know what the hell happened the day before, because soobin was out with the other knights to help the queen go to chevaria, since one of her sisters wa there.

he was frustrated. first, he was worried about his injuries-

oh shit.

"wait, isn't he injured?" his face contorts into an expression of realization.

kai nods, "y..yeah. he is. two on his knees, his cheek and lip, and his chest, and the other bruises aren't healed yet. why did you ask, hyung?"

the room went silent as they realized what might happen. they were worried, but yoongi was the one indifferent to them when the injuries are mentioned. he just snickers and leans back on his chair, arms crossed like he just witnessed the most pathetic exchange in all of seven years of service.

"those injuries are nothing to him, huening. he's used to it, right? so, he must get used to his father. it's been a while since i've actually seen those two get along, but it seems like they are getting along well."

the young knight was ready to behead him then and there, but soobin put a hand over his hand that was gripping his sword a little too tightly. kai glares at him.

why?

soobin shook his head.

soobin looks at yoongi like he's done a huge sin. despite being the head guard, he still makes beomgyu's safety a responsibility, since there was one knight that doesn't do that and only concerns himself with the opinion of a lion when he was a sheep.

soobin and kai took one more glance at each other before they both ran outside with their helmets forgotten and their swords in their sheaths.

kai was panting, "h-hyung, what the hell are you doing?"

soobin chuckles as they reached the stables outside. thankfully, the horses were well rested and they have just been groomed.

"well, where's one place that beomgyu would go to?"

it was answered with silence, and kai widens his eyes.

"then why don't we let him be? the king doesn't really care where he is, and the queen has no idea how bad the situation is."

soobin takes a deep breath and sighs, walking to his horse and using the leash to lead him outside his small little room.

"if they don't care, then we care. after all, we are beomgyu's best friends, aren't we?" soobin replied as he mounted his horse and caressed the mane.

kai was about to say "but my feelings say otherwise," but he stayed silent, not letting his heart decide this time.

the boy nods and sighs, doing the same as soobin and they went out, their horses almost running as they went to a forest.

soobin didn't care if he was basically abandoning his work entirely, all he wanted was beomgyu to be safe.

he didn't know that beomgyu was safe.
