Apollo looked down at the case file that had been thrown into his lap. The defendant was named Wocky Kitaki, heir to the Kitaki family, and he was accused of murder. The details of the case were-

"I'm assigning this one to you, Justice. My bruder is back in the country and I don't feel like dealing with his constant rock and roll attitude, so you'll be taking my place. Or is that too difficult for you?" Apollo flinched, but nodded.

"I'll get it done, s-sir. Leave it to me." Kristoph adjusted his glasses, momentarily blocking out his eyes with the glare of the reflected light.

"You've gotten your first client acquitted, let's see if you can keep that streak going." He didn't come out and say it, but Apollo could hear the threat in his voice. Get the verdict, or face the consequences. Apollo heard papers rustling and looked down to see his hands shaking. Not wanting his boss to see his weakness, he rushed out of the room.

"I'll be back!" he shouted, barely keeping his Chords of Steel in check. "And I'll have a not guilty verdict, too!" And Apollo left without looking back.

Once the door was a wall between him and Mr. Gavin, Apollo let himself be taken by the rising panic. The young defense attorney clutched the papers to his chest, trembling so hard he was surprised that the door didn't rattle. He struggled to breathe, to even think. But he had to. Apollo had to if he didn't want to face Kristoph's wrath.

The thought of the older man's anger made Apollo forget to breathe, literally. Memories of the last few months phased through his mind, taking him along for the ride. Just as he could feel himself begin to lose his mind, Apollo could hear something, something that pierced through his thoughts and panic. He could hear someone approaching the door, slow and precise footsteps.

Without much thought, Apollo scampered away, not wanting to be punished for taking too long in doing his job.

Again.

Luckily, the bike ride down to the detention center allowed Apollo to clear his mind. The panic from earlier had also lowered considerably, allowing him to actually think about his task at hand.

He was biking down to see Wocky Kitaki, his first client in two months. And that case. Just as he started to be dragged down further that path, he slammed on the brakes to his bike. Apollo smacked his forehead to hopefully disperse the thoughts. He didn't want to remember what happened, he didn't want to think about that night, he didn't-

"Hey kid! What are you doing here?!" Apollo almost fell off the bike at the sound of a gruff voice. He looked up to see a guard standing at the gates. He was staring at Apollo with disdain, just like-

"Sorry sir! I'm here to talk to my client." The guard grunted, but stayed silent as Apollo walked past. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he, for once, entered new territory. Mr. Gavin hadn't allowed him to come along when meeting with new clients. Apollo looked around the rows of tables and glass windows.

"Who are you here for?" Apollo nearly went into another panic attack when he heard a man's voice behind him. He whipped around with a shriek to see another guard standing there. The guard was looking at him funny, probably due to the shorter man's reaction.

"I-I'm here to see Wockey Kitaki!" he squeaked out. "I'm his a-attorney!" The guard sighed, muttering under his breath about newbies. Apollo flinched when the man gestured at the row of seats in front of the tables.

"Go sit and he'll be out soon." Apollo almost bolted to the chairs, eager for something to ground him back in reality. As he waited for his client, he noticed his shaking hands.
