Carolyn arrived at The Blue Whale Pub.
The groovy go-go music played in the jukebox.
Her hair was long; her eyes wide as Outer Space. She was in her own domain. Then, to her shock, she saw Burke Devlin.
His face was attractive to her; his blonde eyes gleamed in the distance.
"I hoped you'd come. I wished to extend my interest in the circumstances of your true feelings. Yet, you're not hurried to marry Joe Haskell".
"He doesn't know about Collinsport".
"He is a fisherman's son. He isn't used to haunted houses". His tall, lanky frame shifted in the seat; his black suit was done up tightly, unless any of the Vampires bit into his neck.

"You're afraid of what Joe can do?", Carolyn asked.
"Joe is a man of limited means".
"Is that why you want him gone?".
"No! He can't see you with children because of the marriage problem. Vampires won't help the cause...".
And Carolyn laughed, then icily said:
"We're beyond the human world; we're from Collinsport. And we don't change into the Undead on orders from you".
And then she stopped talking, as Joe Haskell walked through the Maine Pub's front doors...and felt the tension in his fiancée's face.
