Collinsport, 1662-1795
The ships that were moored in Frenchman's Bay, by the year 1690, was full of seamen who, about a century ago, battled the rough seas that lead from Maine...to the New World that was called America. You had to believe such a young country wasn't full of superstition; full of tales of the supernatural.
I was born in 1662.
By 1670, the sea port was full of sailors.
Some of them wouldn't go near Widow's Hill. The Hill, so named for ladies of wealth who married Lords who lived on the ships, was a lonely place.
Nothing seemed out of ordinary...
...Until 1682, when I married a woman called Elizabeth Winters. We were both 20. And, because of the good standing of her parents, Sir Charles and Lady Anne Winters, we thought that it was the beginning of a strong, happy, future...
...Sadly, it proved not to be.

Mother felt that nothing would be better than the fresh sea. She wore a long white dress. Her face was lined; her blonde hair was tied in a bun; her double skirts didn't drag as she walked. "Please don't be scared Margaret", said I.
"How can you say that, Issac. I shall believe that nothing more can...and will...suffice. I shan't tell others about...".
And she shivered from the unnatural cold...as the howling begun near the ports.

By 1712, Annabella took care of our son, James.
James, a boy who was born in 1702, was ten. He was a odd boy. Nothing seemed to bother him until the shadows came near Widow's Hill.
"Mother, Father, I see dark things".
"What do you think you saw, James?", asked Mother.
"I saw a Vampire", said he.
And he shivered...then vowed not to leave his chamber door when the darkness came...And the wind blew...and opened the doors...as if some ghostly hand forced it open by itself.

By 1713 to 1781 life was full of death, tragedy, and terror.
And it was taken over by Barnabas Collins.
By 1782 to 1794, over twelve years, the town of Collinsport, (as it was named), brought in the money; by 1795, after the weird death of Josette duPre Collins...and Annabella Collins...and Margaret Collins...over the tainted Widow's Hill, (talk of suicide and murder was the possible rumors in Collinsport)...And the wicked dealings of Angelique, the second wife of Barnabas Collins...ended in Barnabas's body being taken into a coffin underneath Collingsport Manor...where he dwelled in the dark shadows of Maine.
