I finally come to the end of the working week, it's been rough emotionally and physically but I got through it. I need to hand in my holiday request form. I need to book a day off to go house hunting I have a few appointments lined up and I'm hoping I will only need one day to find the perfect home for me and Grace.
I walk into Helens office who I've learnt has an open door policy, unless the door is closed we can walk in and out.
"Afternoon Helen" I smile as I walk up to her desk.
"What's up?" she looks up from her computer.
"Could I hand this request form in please?" I pass over the form.
"Oh all holiday requests must go through Mr Peters" she smiles and hands the form back to me.
"Oh I didn't know, it never use to be like that" I frown. We would always give out requests to the supervisor at that time it use to be Darren.
"Yes it changed recently when there was a mix up and too many people were off at the same time" she scrunches her face up and that makes me think it was her mistake.
"He is in his office until seven, he's working late tonight so you could probably pop in without an appointment" she smiles.
I turn and walk out her office, I have avoided Darren all week. I really don't want to have to go and see him but I guess we must stay professional.
I take the flight of stairs to the directors floor and go to the desk, "Hello Thomas, any chance Dar-Mr Peters is available I have a holiday request I need authorised as soon as possible"
"Have you made an appointment, Mr Peters is extremely busy at the moment. And for your information holiday requests must be given six weeks in advance" He blankly looks at me.
Thomas wasn't here when I worked here so we aren't really friendly and not only that he likes to lick all the directors arses.
"Is he? Well its urgent so could you please just buzz through to him" I smile.
"Mr Peters is busy, I've told you already. If it's that urgent email him and when he's got time he can reply"
"I need this request to be authorised. So please can you just see if he's busy" I fold my arms. I'm really not in the mood for this, heart break has definitely turned me into the worse version of myself.
"Fine. I've warned you he's busy and he doesn't like being disturbed" he rolls his eyes and picks up the phone.
"Good afternoon Mr Peters, I know you're busy but I have an employee wanting to see you" he looks at me.
"I know, I have told her but she won't listen" he smiles at me, "Mr Peters is busy" he smirks.
"Give me the damn phone" I snap and hold my hand out shaking it in his direction.
"Certainly not!" he turns away from me.
"I don't know, I'll ask"
Thomas turns to me, "Name?"
I smile, "Lauren"
"Lauren... Who?"
"Just Lauren" I smirk folding my arms.
"Her name is Lauren she won't tell me her surnam-"
"oh.." Thomas puts the phone down.
"Mr Peters will see you now" he shyly says.
"Thought so" I storm off making sure I swing my hips and open the door to Darren's office.
I close the door behind me and lean up against it giving myself a mental pat on the back at my sassiness. I completely forget what office I've walked into until I hear a small cough to alert me.. Oh yes Darren.
