He pulled the car into a parking lot and I looked up at the rundown apartment he would be moving into. "So he's seriously letting you live with him for free?" I asked as we got out of the car and popped open the trunk. That was one awesome thing about his old car, there was a nice huge trunk. I picked up one of the black plastic bags full of clothes and wrapped my arms around it.
"Yeah, Logan is awesome like that. He just came by for my birthday and basically said I was going to live with him. He knows how my parents are."
I looked up at the peeling paint of the white building in front of us and couldn't help but think of how lucky Maver was. If only I had somewhere to move when I tuned 18 instead of having to wait until graduation. "Uhm . . . what do I do?"
In front of us the front door hung open, the lock smashed and the call buttons ripped from the wall. "Go in?" Maver said with a shrug as he pushed through the door and into the hallway. With a small shrug he trudged forward, carrying the large brown moving box held securely in his arms.
He didn't even bother to pause and hold the door open for me, but I was used to that by now. "How long are you staying with him?"
"Until I can't anymore?"
We approached the door at the very end of the hall and I couldn't help but laugh at how the 1 on the 17 had been sharpied to look like a penis. Maver shifted the large box in his arms as he turned the knob and walked into the apartment nodding his head for me to follow.
The sight of the most attractive man I had ever seen in my life greeted my eyes causing my feet to stop moving. I stood halfway in the door behind Maver, a big black bag of clothes in my arms, as I hid the surprised expression from my face. As droolworthy as the man was my eyes still drifted to the line of cocaine that was in the process of being sniffed up his nose.
"Hey Logan." Maver said nonchalantly as he walked through the livingroom and down into a narrow hall motioning for me to follow him. Again I did. I couldn't help but let my eyes meet with Logan's as he leaned back his hand shaking as he rubbed his temples slowly.
I pulled my eyes from his and an embarrassed flush came to my cheeks as I pushed the door closed behind me and scanned the small bare room that would be Maver's. "Where should I put this?" I asked softly.
"On the floor works."
I nodded and set it down. "Kays."
"You start sorting and I'll bring in the rest." Maver said with a smile. "Thanks again." He opened the door and left the room to go back to his car.
I sat in the center of the room and opened the box to peer inside at the computer equipment. "Hey!" I heard what I could only guess was Logan's voice coming from the livingroom. I ignored it and picked out the speakers, carefully untwining the wires. "Hey!" the loud shout came again. "Maver's chick!"
I realized he had been talking to me and I got up and peeked my head into the livingroom where he sat, wondering the whole time why I hadn't just ignored him. "Yeah?"
"Have a seat." He said his pupils heavily dilated as he stared up at me.
