(a/n: Story starts as a flashback type thing)
Celia's POV-
I'm in a car going to my new home and I couldn't be any more sad. Being 7 moving from the only home you've ever known is devastating. I lived in a country ranch house with horses, cows, goats, and pigs, to a 3 bedroom 2 floor house in the middle of the neighborhood. I have people living around me.
As we pull into the drive way of my new house I get out and get my bags from the bed of the truck. My mom directs me to the bedroom that is centers on top floor and a large window is set facing the street. I look around a see my bed that I picked out, it had baby blue pillows and a light gray comforter already on it since my aunt was here last night making sure we would be able to sleep soundly tonight. The walls were a boring white except the wall with my window on it that seemed to be covered with chalkboard wallpaper that id be able to write on. I smiled and set my bag on my bed.
My aunt was a sweetheart she had gave me the dresser that she didn't really use since I we didn't have any hangers for the closet. I unpacked my clothes easily and sat on my bed getting bored already so I decided to go question the neighbors if they had some peoples my age.
"Mommmm can I see if any of thees people have kids my age" I say showing my country accent and lisp from my missing front tooth.
"Sure sweety be home by 5 for dinner" she replied loudly from what sounded like the kitchen. I skip out of the house in my sundress and cowboy boots my side braids flopping on my shoulders as a I hopped down the stairs of the porch.
First stop was to the right of my new house, I walked up to the door and knocked being greeted by an elderly woman.
"Afternoon ma'am I was just wondering if you had any children my age" I asked twisting right and left slightly as I waited for an answer but she didn't speak only slammed the door in my face causing myself to roll my eyes then go to the left side neighbors house. I past my dad who was getting the grill out of the back of the truck.
"Hey dad" I waved and he blew a kiss watching me go to the left side of the house. Getting to the small yellow house next door I go up and knock on the door being opened into the smell of brownies and a boy about 16 or 17 holding a pan.
"Hello I just moved in next door and I was wondering if you have an siblings my age?" I questioned.
"your about 7 or 8 right?" I nodded "Nah the youngest I got is 14 across from your house though there's a kid that I think is 9" He stated
"Thanks and the brownies smell great" I complimented before running over there looking both ways before crossing the street I go to the front door and knock. A cute boy that was little taller than me but looked around my age answered the door.
"Hello I'm Celia I just moved in next door" I said chewing my lip out of nerves hopefully he was nice rude people made me mad.
"I'm Jared I've lived here since I was born" he joked mocking my introduction. "Wanna see my tree house?" he asked randomly and of course you already know my answer, everyone loves tree houses.
"Yes what kind of question is that?" I add to the conversation before he invites me inside. Normally I wouldn't go inside someones house but my dad was outside and saw me go in so I felt fine. We soon entered his kitchen where two women stood having a conversation.
"Moms this is Celia she just moved here i'm taking her to the tree house." he notified his mom
"Ok Jared first are you going to introduce us?" she asked and he nodded.
"Celia this is my mom Kindel and my other mom Nicole" He spoke in a matter of fact tone with a firm nod. I've never seen a LGBT+ household but they seemed happy so you do you.
"Hello ma'am" I nodded and shook their hands before Jared pulled me through the backdoor seemingly to be excited.
"Whoa this is awesome" I said following him to the 2 entrance ways one being a plastic rock wall you would see at a playground or a rope ladder, I picked the rock wall.
We got inside and he had a TV set up with a few bean bags along the main wall and at the back where the tree house cam to a point with the walls he had his own library book shelves below, above, and beside the pointed window with a seat that was like a reading corner.
"Welcome new comer to Jared's grotto I dont really know what that means but that what my mom called it" he shrugged at the end of the sentence making me laugh with a small snort. My snort made him laugh causing a fit of laughter between the two of us. Finally it called and I looked at him.
"So since I was invited to Jared's grotto does that mean we're friends?" I asked hoping I already had a friend.
"I think so I mean only if you want to be I don't have many friends " He gave as the answer to my question.
"I think I do-" I nodded firmly as confirmation "wanna go play a game, or watch a movie, or board games" i said rambling things to do this was going to be easier when we got to be better friends. Soon enough we'd be best friends hanging out everyday.
"Board game duh" he said opening a cabinet under his TV showing a collection of board games and apparently we both saw the same one because at the same time we both said.
"Monopoly!" There it was the electric spark that set off a chain of great friendship.
