Chapter 18 - Hydration

Sans had kept walking for a while, but eventually, you ran out of water. And you happen to be in a desert. During a sandstorm. Darn Tyranitars.

You felt your throat be clogged with sand, and you kept coughing to try and clear it, but each cough made it worse.

"Just hang in there for a while longer, (Y/n)..." Sans muttered, being a skeleton and not worrying about the sand.

Fuyumi had collapsed a while ago, and Sans had to convince her to be caught officially so she could stay in the pokeball.

You didn't like your pokeball. Even if it was different, you still had the trauma of what happened last time you relaxed in your pokeball.

You were dumped and abandoned...

So you endured it. Until it became too much for any Eevee to stand.

You didn't have to wait long.

A Vaporeon came over, smiling at you and Sans.

"Hey there, buddy... mind bringing us outta this desert?"

The Vaporeon nodded, and led you out. You met a girl there. She had a team consisting of these pokemon:

Swanna

Zebstrika

Alolan Ninetales

And Gardevoir

You shuddered, but we're grateful when the Vaporeon ran over to the girl.

"Hamako! Girl, when will you stop running off randomly in breaks?"

Hamako, the Vaporeon, smiled playfully, tail up in the air.

The girl shook her head, but noticed you and Sans.

"Oh, hi there! Sorry if Hamako caused you any trouble."

Sans shrugged, "Nah, she actually helped us. (Y/n) here was getting a bit frustrated at the sandstorm."

You nodded, shaking off the sand from your fur.

The girl smiled wider, "I'm Luna, by the way."

"I'm Sans. I'm new to Unova. Kind of. I've gotten some badges, but not all of them."

Luna smiled. "I'm a gym leader. So is my friend, Milly. Want to go to my gym? I'm next on the list."

Sans nodded.

Timeskip:

The gym was pretty simple. Nothing too much. You smiled at the gorgeous decor.

"Well, here we are. Ready?" Luna asked, smirking.

Her first pokemon was Hamako. You were ready for a fair fight.

It started off looking easy. Hamako was taken down simply by a few timed shadow balls and a swift.

But then, it got hard. Swanna was up next. You tried to get it done easily, but... then, Swanna used Aqua Ring, combo with Roost.

You growled, but that didn't stop you from gaining a win. You managed to get Luna tricked into getting greedy with the next attack, and you were able to take down Swanna.

Last up was... a... Dewgong?

You were easily able to take that out.

The next badge was yours!

Sans smiled at you. "Great job, (Y/n)!"

You purred at him, nuzzling his leg, and jumping up on his shoulder.

"Wow. You were strong. You earned this badge." Luna smiled, handing you a howling wolf badge with a waterfall shine.

You smiled but felt sad when you had to leave. But, that would wait for another day-

"Wait up!" Luna called.

Sans stopped, turning to her.

"C-can I join you? I've been needing to return a few of the pokemon here anyway."

Your trainer nodded, "Sure thing, Luna. Come on."

You smiled.

Another gym down, 6 more to go before the elite four and champion.
