Spencer Claire

The cold water stabbed my back as I rubbed the shampoo into my hair. Today is Monday. The day I have to go back to school. The first Monday without Taylor. I still feel like my whole world has been torn out from under me. I still feel even more empty than before. I still feel more broken than bruised.

I finished my shower and dried my body. I go out to my closet and pulled a nirvana shirt with a floral print, black leggings, a leather jacket, and black combat boots. I lay them on my bed and go to dry my hair. Once I'm done with that, I throw my long, brown locks into a messy bun. I brush my teeth and wash my face. My make up was simple. Winged black eye liner, black mascara, and a nude shade of lip stick.

"Spencer, you ready?" Nash called from down stairs. "Let me get dressed." I yell back. I quickly get dressed and rush down the stairs. As I took a sharp turn around the railing of my stairs I bump right into someone.

"Sorry." I mumble and look up to a smiling Shawn. "No need to say sorry, babe." He replied and kissed my forehead. He then made is way up the stairs. Just the way he called me babe sent chills up and down my spine. There's something about him that can make a bad morning into a good one.

Shawn and Nash have been hanging out at home a lot more. Which means, shawn hangs out with Nash, then waits until Nash falls asleep so he can come over to my room to talk to me and sing me to sleep. It's helped with insomnia but not the emptiness I've been feeling. Nothing can fill the emptiness. I wait on Nash and Shawn so Nash can take me to school.

I walk up to the huge building with Nash and Shawn by my side. They're now the only friends I have in this whole place. As soon as we walk into the doors Nash goes to find Cameron and Shawn goes straight to the choir room leaving me by myself. I begin to walk with my head hanging low. There goes my good morning.

I reach my locker and put in my combination. As I jerked the locker open, I hear a heard of girly laughs. I knew exactly who the laughs belonged to. They belonged to the group of girls that practically ran this place.

Kitiera was the most popular one. Every guy had eyes for her. I heard the clicks of heals approaching me. I look up only to see Kitiera standing beside me. "Kitiera, what do you want? I don't have time for your bullshit today." I spat. She gave me a small laugh and a sympathetic smile. Oh god. "Spencer, I wanted to come over and tell you how horrible I feel for you. I'm so sorry for your loss. Taylor was truly a great person." She said. "Don't sit here and act like you knew Taylor. But yes, he was a great person." I replied in a snotty tone. she brushed off the bitchyness I was giving her. "I was wondering if you wanted to sit with us at lunch today. I know Taylor was the one that you usually say with. I could see the fake in her smile. "yeah. Sure." I agreed.

Just then, the one and only Jack Gilinsky walks my way. "Ready to go to home room?" He asked me. I could see the hurt in his eyes. I'm not sure why he looked hurt but I will find out. "Yeah." I replied and slammed my locker shut. Jack looks up at Kitiera with a stern look. "Kitiera." He says. "Jack." She spat. What the hell was that about?

I sat my tray down onto the table top and sit down. As soon as I sat down, every girl stopped talking and just stared at me. The situation was so awkward I had to say something. "You guys act like you're waiting on me to say something." I spoke up. "We are!" Kitieras ditsy friend, Sky, said. She wrapped her long, auburn hair around her finger as she stared at me with a stupid look on her face.

"So. Spencer, what's up with you and Jack? Are you two dating?" Kitiera asked with a hostile stare. "No." I reassured her. "Good. don't get involved with him. He's bad news..." Kitiera trailed off. "A hot piece of bad news." Kitieras friend, Camila, mumbled. "Camila." Kitiera spat causing Camila to hang her head. "What? They always say: bad boy, good drugs." Sky said followed by giggled from the other girls around us. Kitiera brushed it off.

"So are you talking to anyone?" Kitera asked me. "Um... I'm not sure. The new kid, Shawn and I are a thing I guess." I said looking at my food. "Shawn Mendes?" She asked with a smile on her face. "Is he bad news too?" I playfully said. "I don't know, but he's a cutie. Just like that Nash kid. I've seen his vines before, who hasn't? But he's so much more attractive in person!" She gloated. I laughed and shook my head "what?" She asked in that ditsy type of tone. "He's my older brother." I said.

"I'm so sorry!" She blushed. "It's okay." I say. "Um the girls and I were invited to go to a party tonight. Wanna come?" She asked. "Kitiera, I know you're only trying to make me feel included. You don't have to invite me to things just cause you feel bad for me." I mumble. "No, I want you to come." She said with a small smile on her pale white face.

"Sure." I replied and immediately Regretted it. Parties were me and Taylor's thing. How am I supposed to make it through this without him? "Woo! Prepare to come to school completely trashed tomorrow!" She said in a joyful tone.

Yay

*skip the rest of the school day*

It's now 6:30 pm and I'm trying to find an outfit for the party. I couldn't find anything. I've looked through every corner of my closest and can't find shit.

Im really nervous about this whole thing. I was going a party with the most popular girl in the school. I wasn't sure if it were a set up, or if she actually liked me. I'm also scared that I'm going to do something stupid, now that I don't have Taylor.

Taylor.

Even just the thought of his name made me want to break down and cry. He was my only friend. Now he's gone.

I need to stop thinking.

I need to stop thinking about how bad everything is right now. I'm supposed to have a good time tonight. I'm not going to let my thoughts get in my way.

I walked over to my door and opened it to yell for Nash. "Nash get in here!" I yelled. He did as told and came to me. "Yeah?" He replied. "Help me pick out an outfit for tonight." "Where you going?" "to a party." I said. He looked at me as if I were crazy. "What?" I asked. "Nothing it's just... parties were you and Taylors' thing..." he trailed off. "I know but Kitiera Heffner ask me to go soooo" I replied. "Kitiera Heffner?! Awe, you've got to hook me up with her!" He begged.

"Just pick out and out fit and I might." I said. He picked out a black pencil skirt, a white t-shirt, a leather jacket, and black heals. "Curl your hair, do the natural look thing with your makeup, and you'll look good." He said to me. "Thanks bub." I said back as he walked out.

This night will be full of surprises.
I hate surprises.

Let the night begin.
