"So how are you getting home? Taylor looks pretty shit faced." I said to Spencer as we looked at Taylor through the window. Right now he had about two girls trying to dance on him. He was so drunk he could barely stand up.

"That's where you're wrong. I do know how to drive. I'm actually the DD tonight." She said. She was still trying to stop the tears. Now I knew what she meant when she said she wouldn't be surprised if she did understand hating being tabled.

"You're too young to drive!" I exclaim.

"You're too young to drink, and look what you're doing. I'm 16, I just don't have my license yet. I guess were both law breakers tonight." She tells me with so much sass in her voice. She was so cute and I could tell she didn't think she was.

"Yeah, yeah. What time is it?" I asked Spencer. Spencer and I had to have been sitting out here for a hour and a half just talking she took out her phone and said "12:30. I need to get Taylor. We have to get home." And with that she disappeared into the noisy house. There was something about her. The way she walked. The way she talked. Her smile was so cute, but it was so dull. That sparkle in her eyes was fading, I could tell.

*the next day*

For some reason I couldn't get Shawn off of my mind. I mean, all he did was be there for me. Nothing big. (Note the sarcasm.).

"We should take a walk some day. Dream about what we could've been." I sang to myself as my fingers slid across the strings on my guitar.

I stared at my ceiling with my guitar laying on my stomach. I was filled with boredom. That's all I could think about. Shawn and how bored I am.

"Spencer!" My grandmother yelled down the hallway.

I groaned and pushed myself off of my bed. I trudged down the long hallway.

"I was relaxing, grandma."

"Good. You need to get out of your room." My grandmother replied to me. I looked her in her eyes as I sat in her bed side her. She had a very worried look on her face. It worried me to see her worried. She was never worried.

"Spencer, I'm just going to start talking. Don't interrupt me. Listen to me. Talk when I tell you to. You know how your mom went into the Eichen House a little after your fathers death?" she said. This really annoyed me. She new that this was a soft topic and I hated it.

"Why are we talking about this?"

"Listen, Spencer. There are some things that you don't know... And I'm going to let your mother explain." She said which made me really confused. My mother was in rehab. How was she supposed to explain this shit?

"Okay... Grandma, are you okay?" I questioned her.

"Go to Milanoes Café and meet up with your mom." She said very monotoned.

I got up from her bed and walked back to my room. What. The. Hell. was. Happening? I'm so confused. I picked up my phone and dialed Taylor's number.

"Taylor? what are you doing. I need you." I said through my phone once he answered.

"Uh I'm with the Jacks doing... Things." Taylor said. He said it as if I didn't know what he was doing. I know he smoked weed and drinks. He's stupid sometimes.

"I think my moms out." I abruptly said. Then there was some ruffling and mumbling.

"I'll be over right away."

"Take me to Milanoes. That's where she's at." I said and hung up.

Taylor and I walked into the front doors of that café, and the smell of coffee filled my lungs. I scanned around the room and I didn't see my Mother any where.

"Maybe we should get a table and wait?" Taylor suggested. I nodded and told the waiter to get us a table for 2. He sat us down at the smallest table I've ever sat at.

"So what do you think your grandma was talking about?" Taylor's asks. His legs was jerking up and down underneath the table. He was nervous for me.

Taylor was one of those sweet best guy friends. Kind of like a boyfriend but not. He comforts me when it's needed.  He'd do anything for me, and I would do anything for him.

"Well I'm thinking my Mom is somewhere other than the Eichen House." I said as I stared at my hands. My fingers played with each other as my heart started racing. Just the thought of seeing my Mother Again was overwhelming.

"Hello, my Name is Elizabeth I'm your waitress for today. May I take your order?" The woman standing beside us said. My breath hitched and my heart rate went up. Tears swelled in my eyes as I looked up at the woman. When our eyes met her face dropped and so did Taylor's.

"Mom?..." I breathed out. a warm tear ran down my cheek. Then a few more. After a few seconds she dropped the note pad and pen she was holding with tears in her eyes.

"Spencer." She said as I stood up and wrapped around my arms around her neck. Her arms snaked around my waist and we cried into each other's shoulders.

"I'm so sorry, Spencer. I have some things to explain."
