I looked into the office, flames dancing off of sticks of wax casted shadows against the gray bricks lining the walls, giving off a castle motif, even though in the halls, it looked quite modern. There was a pile of books and parchment and quills littering the table. I walked into the candle-lit room.
"Hello," I called out. A man from behind the desk looked up, over the parchment. He wore a tall hat, all purple decorated with moving constellations on the fabric, embedded in it. It was the same man from the dark space. So, it was real? At least, I guess it was. He looked quite alive for appearing do old.
"Hello! You must be Brian! Well, Brian AngleMask! I'm Doodle McFudds!" His voice was rushed, fun, and gentle. He seemed to be like a grandpa. I felt like I knew I could somehow trust him.
"Ummm... I'm Brian Angley-Mast?" I asked. This name was not correct. My last name was Crain.
"AngleMask, yes! You see, young wizards here will have a last name composed of two words. Such as Cody, your guide!"
"The blonde guy who cast a spell on some other kid?" I asked. "Yeah, I guess he was my guide. Didn't really show me around much."
"A spell on another student? Why does Cody do these things! He is a constant trouble maker! Always using pranking spells or weak spells for some humor. I myself don't find them funny. Anyway, you must be wondering why you must be here!" Doodle McFudd said.
"Ummmm, yes," I nodded furiously. "I have no idea what's going on really. I just found out I'm a wizard?"
"So, your mother, nice young lady she is, didn't explain your family secret huh?" Doodle McFudds asked.
"Huh?" I questioned, confused.
"Ahh, I thought so!" Doodle McFudds said. "Well, you see your mother and father were wizards! Yes, your lame parents were, in reality, really cool, kick-ass, wizards as you students call yourselves!" Doodle McFudds laughed.
"My mom and dad?" I asked, to be clear.
"Yes, Brian!" Doodle McFudds said. "Now, so was your grandmother from your mothers side. Your grandfather was human, with no magical abilities. Your father had magical powers even though his parents were both humans! Strange it is! And we thought that you had no magical powers, until we had noticed you have been smarter than most normal humans, faster, stronger, and so on. You remember Jessie, right?"
"Jessie," I said.
"He said he was moving to a new school about two years ago," Doodle McFudds said.
"Oh yeah," I said, Jessie was my bestfriend who I only talked to over Tracebook (Copyright) and over Twirler (More Copyright). "What about him?"
"Jessie is actually a wizard as well, and attends here." Doodle McFudds said.
"Ohhh, okay! So he moved here! Where exactly is... here?"
"We are on the planet Wizardopolis!" Doodle McFudds said.
"We are on another damn planet?" I cried out. "What solar system?"
"Same one as Earth!" Doodle McFudds said.
"How the hell?" I asked.
"Well, we use magic, which can't be on the same level as normal human science. Their understandment of the natural world is just too simplistic for our complex resource of magic!" Doodle McFudds said.
"I can understand that," I said. That was true. The fact that science and 'magic' can't really mix. Science can't prove everything can it? How else could Cody have done that spell on that other kid to punch himself so violently. It wasn't some liquid or gas that would make him go crazy and do it. My head was honestly starting to hurt.
"Good, now," Doodle McFudds explained further, handing me a parchment with writing on it. "This here is your schedule! You will also be taking a test to see what type of magic you would be best put in!"
"Type of magic?" I asked.
"There are many types of magic," Doodle McFudds answered. "There is Ice, Wind, Thunder, Fire, Life, Death, Earth, Love, Grass, Myth, and more!"
"That's a lot of types," I stated.
"Yes," Doodle McFudds said. "Nature is made up of many different types of elements and the changes these elements can go through, as well as cycles of life."
"What type of magic do you use?" I asked.
"I am a master wizard. I have the rank of Merlin!" Doodle McFudds said, obviously proud of this achievement. "I can use all magic types! I have mastered them all during my life. I'm only six hundred and fifty years old!"
"How the heck is that even possible?" I asked.
"Magic," Doodle McFudds said simply. "Remember, science doesn't mix with magic! Boundaries don't really exist here."
"Can you show me a spell?" I asked.
"Sure," Doodle McFudds said. He pulled out a longer wand that looked old, but cool. It had an orb of blue light at the top. It also had a very detailed dragon carved out of some kind of wood at the bottom, spitting the handle upwards to the orb. "Obiectum Subvolo" Doodle McFudds said, pointing his wand at a quill. The quill floated up into the air, and then in front of me. Doodle McFudds did a slight movement with his hand and the quill dropped into my lap. "You may want to keep that quill. It won't run out of ink!" Doodle McFudds smiled. I got up.
"Thank you sir," I said, bowing. Seemed like the respectful thing to do. He said goodbye as I did the same. I left through the door to see a girl with long, curled, blonde hair stood outside, as though she was waiting. She had braces, that looked good. They were blue, which had complimented her green eyes. She gave a smile. I smiled back weakly. I don't know how to talk to pretty girls, that was always my weak spot.
"Hello," she said. Her voice was soft, but friendly. "I'm Carly AngelHarp and I'll be your guide until lunch, which will be next hour. Doodle McFudds told me Cody might not have done a good job, and I'm just going to guess he didn't, so here I am! May I ask what your name is?" I walked over to her, she was almost as tall as me, just maybe three inches shorter.
"I'm Brian AngleMask! Nice to meet you!" I shook her hands; warm and soft. "So, where are we going?"
"I'll be showing you the entire school!" Carly said happily.
"How big is this school?" I asked.
"A couple square miles!" Carly answered, laughing a bit.
"Holy crap," I sighed. "Okay, let's go! How bad can it be?"
"With a hottie like me? It shouldn't be too bad!" Carly flashed me a flirty smile.
"Hehe," I laughed shyly, blushing. "Okay!" Carly and I then walked down the hall, and the tour had begun.
"First, I'll show you commons! You'd like it there if you are excited about being a wizard!"
"I guess I am." I said. I thought deeply. I'm a wizard. A fantasy? But I'm not dreaming. I smiled to myself and continued to follow Carly.
