I walk towards the light
But the closer I get
The dimmer it becomesI am afraid
Scared to lose itCold engulfs me
An overwhelming loneliness consumes me
Though I am not alone
For a legion of entities surrounds meThere is serenity
Only for a momentLovely, isn't it?
Death's whisper in my ear
It's emotionless voice squeezes my soulI see eyes
Without knowledge of whom they belong toSimple was my life
And I still breathe
As though it is my rightI do not deserve such kindness
Nor a peaceful endI should drift back
For only a slight glow remains
Of the once bright lightTurn my back on the joy
I have craved
For I'm not ready to have itWith the twist of a heel
I abandon it;
The divine silence I thirst for
It is not yet time.
