"What?" Jimin exclaimed. "How dare he say that?"
"No, no, he was- Seokjin was with him!" Taehyung hyperventilated, grasping Jimin's forearms. "Jungkook, you could hear some of the phone call, right? You could hear him?"
Jungkook frowned, "Yes, I guess, but all I heard was that he was there but-"
"See? Seokjin- Seokjin was there, Jimin! He was actually there! My brother's alive!"
"Taehyungie, this is a lot to take in. Why don't you take tonight off?"
"No! No, I'm fine. It's fine." He seemed to have regained his breath. Taehyung was serious about this. "I'm okay, Jiminie. We can find him— them. We can find them!"
Just then, their Staff Sergeant stepped into the room. "What's going on?"
"It's nothing, Sir," Jimin answered.
Staff Sergeant Jung stepped closer. "Just call me Hoseok for now, it's no big deal," he smiled. "Is everything okay?" His smile deteriorated. He could see Taehyung's puffy eyes and Jimin and Jungkook's uneasy exteriors. He wasn't stupid, otherwise he wouldn't have become a Staff Sergeant.
"He just..." Jimin started.
"I had a panic attack. It's fine," Taehyung beat Jimin to it. How could he speak so casually about it? Jimin thought. He spoke too casually about it, which must have meant that Taehyung's dealt with it many more times than Jimin had ever seen. He shuddered. He didn't want his best friend— his soulmate hurt.
"I see. Everything's okay now? I don't want my guys hurting." Hoseok's smile was back. He was way too positive for his own good. The other officers often called him their hope since he was such an optimist. Their "J"-Hope because of "Jung," too. It was comical, but Taehyung and Jimin eventually jumped on the bandwagon.
"Of course. Everything's okay, now," Jimin nodded.
"Okay, good. Oh, who's this?" Hoseok approached Jungkook. He shook the younger's hand, shooting him a friendly and blinding smile.
"I'm Jungkook, Sir!" Jungkook almost bowed, but Hoseok stopped him.
"Hey, no need for honorifics, now. The chief isn't anywhere, right? Just call me Hoseok. Wait, how old are you? Ah, it doesn't matter. Just call me Hoseok!"
"Okay, Hoseok!" Jungkook smiled in return. Hoseok had a beautiful smile. He lit up the entire office.
"Okay, then! Let's all get back to work, shall we? We don't want anyone slacking, now, do we?" He chuckled and made his way back to his office.
The three boys exchanged a look and then giggled. Hoseok was so friendly, he instantly boosted all of their moods.
But Taehyung was still focused on the fact that his brother was alive. And that cannibals aren't just people. And that monsters were real. He let out a shaky breath and turned around in the spinning chair, logging into his computer and opening a little browser specially designed for police computers.
Choi Wooshik
He typed and pressed enter. Nothing came up. Did he go by a different name? Why did nothing come up? How could he just erase himself from existence. But then something popped up on the blank page. Taehyung's breath hitched.
'You're such a smarty-pants, Tae Bear. You'll never find me on any of your little platforms. If you want to find me so bad, just go home!'
Taehyung shuddered. No way was he going back to his place anytime soon.
'Oh, I know, you don't want to go home now that I've suggested it. You've always been so stubborn, TaeTae. My pretty TaeTae. You'll find me soon enough, won't you? Here, come here by 2am if you want to see me so bad.'
A location was attached. Taehyung's eyes widened. Was he really about to find Choi Wooshik? The murderer of his brother?
"Jimin, Jungkookie, look," Taehyung called. "We can get him."
"We can get him," Jimin smirked, fist pumping Taehyung. Jungkook smiled next to the two. He really wished he could be like them some day.
