Still Jeongin's POV

After a long dreadful while of faltering around the town and calling out Yeji's name, hoping for an answer and getting not a single sound in return. People started to look at me as if I delusional but I didn't care I only had one goal and that was to find my best friend. I searched in every single public place such as the library. In my head I was sure that she would be there, burying her head into books at the back of the library like she usually did. But there wasn't any sign of her. I clumped up to the desk of the Liberian, she could tell how jaded I was and looked a little addled too why. I had streaks of sweat in my hair, which was gradually dripping down onto my shirt along with me panting for air. Everyone in the library was now looking at me with a wide eyed expression and the Liberian was taken back. As I leaned forward, placing my hands firmly on desk. I then announced to her that Yeji was missing and that Ms. Hwang hasn't seen her for a while now and that I want to know have you seen or heard of her? She then proceeded to ask me "who is that you say". Next I explained to her that Yeji was the girl who had read nearly all--. She stopped me mid-sentence and gasphed. From the look on her face it looked as if she cared more than Ms. Hwang herself. " Really since when?! she pleaded to me, catching the attention of everyone else in the room.

I was bit unsure whether she knew who I was talking about. I titled my head to show that I was confused. "Are we on the same page here? I asked, thinking she had the wrong person in mind. "Hwang Yeji right? she replied as a eager smile appeared on my face. I was content with the fact that she knew who I was speaking of. "Ah no I'm afraid I haven't seen her either" she replied. That once eager smile I had seconds ago was now gone. When she said that I was starting to look perturbed. She could tell. "Why didn't you go to the police station to file a report?" she asked. I paused for a moment before replying back with "Because the police in town are sloppy men who can't do their job properly" At this point I was fed up and on the verge of tears, just about to leave then she yelled the word "wait!" which obviously caught my attention. I turned around in embarrassment as everyone in the Library was already laughing and whispering at me probably thinking I was a delusional person. I walked up slowly and stood there to hear whatever she had to say to me. "Im not sure if this will do you any good but here's a very detailed map of town that a friend of mine gave to me a few years back, God rest his soul and-" I snatched it out of her hands without a care in the world. She looked affronted by my action so I apologised. I gave brief scan of the map, making sure not to miss a single thing but most of these places I had been to and had asked the owners or had put up pictures of Yeji to show that she was missing. Then I saw it.

The Forest. I don't even know why it caught my attention but it just did. My first thought was that Yeji wouldn't even go near there...unless. No I can't think like that. She's not dead, I just know she isn't. I gave a quick glance to the Forest one more time before looking back up at Liberian to thank her. I held both of her hands together as I bowed to thank her again. Before proceeding to leave the Library. As I was leaving I could feel all eyes were on me.

I folded the piece of paper neatly and put it in the front pocket of my hoodie. It was a race against time and it was unknown to what could happen to Yeji. I had to go the Forest soon just in case, which I doubt because the Forest in town is almost unwanted cause of all the rats that come from there but there's always a chance I could find some type of clue.

Auther here!
I'll be writing the next part to this part on the 23/08/21 so stay tuned!
