🥀Chapter 18: Be Careful🥀

~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~

"That wouldn't work." Savanna said as she expected her nails, sitting on the couch with an unamused expression. Sage has just explained a plan she had made, only for it to be shut down.

Sage glared at Savanna. "And why not?"

Savanna sighed in annoyance, standing up as she pushed back some of her hair. "Because Ashley isn't an idiot. She plans things ahead of time and prepares for every possibility. What else do you think she did all that time in prison?"

"Well, we need to come up with a plan soon." Aiden said as he looked down in thought. "Something's gonna happen soon, I can sense it."

"Sense what?" They all turned to see Alyse walking downstairs, holding on to Iv's arm.

Aiden quickly walked over, wrapping an arm around his sister to help her keep her balance. "Hey..!"

"H-hey.."

"How are you feeling..?" He asked as he helped her over to the counter, letting her sit in front of one of the plates of food.

She let out a signed. "I'm not really sure right now.."

Aiden stayed quiet for a while, noticing her red cheeks. "Why are you so red..?"

Iv grew darker at the question, remembering the kiss her and Noah shared a little while ago. She then looked at the food, trying to ignore the question. "Pancakes, huh..?"

"It has been a while, but-"

"Yo, hoodie, we need another brain." Savanna yelled to Aiden from the living room, making Sage roll her eyes at the name.

He walked over. "Alright, do you have any idea where Ashley could be at all?"

"The factory."

"But Iv and Noah were at that factory, Ashley left." Sage added, crossing her arms.

Savanna let out a heavy sigh of frustration. "Are you all seriously that moronic? Ashley never left that place, her main power is illusion, you should know this by now."

"You should know this by now." Sage mocked under her breath in annoyance.

"Well, one thing's for sure." They all looked as Noah walked over. "We've seen what she can do, the fact she hasn't done anything for a week is frightening.."

"She needs to have a weakness, everyone has one!" Sage replied.

The three of them looked at Savanna expectingly, who only shrugged. "You got me there, I got no clue of what her weakness could be."

"Power.."

They all turned to Iv who stared deep in thought at her now empty plate. Savanna crossed her arms. "What's that suppose to mean?"

"Ashley loves power, anything that allows her to be over others.. She targeted Noah and Sage because she knows they're related to one of the most powerful beings in this universe.."

She turned to face the other. "We could use her hunger for power as her weakness.."

"Actually, that can work. We can use it to our advantage." Aiden replied, the others nodding in agreement.

"Um, guys...?" Alyse said as she looked out the window, slightly gripping the edge with a frightened look.

Everyone walked over to her, Sage speaking. "What's wrong, Al..?"

She didn't speak, only pointing out the window.

Their eyes all widened. The sky was a dark red, the clouds large and purple as black rain fell, burning the grass they landed on. A dark atmosphere suddenly filled the house, making them all shiver at the sudden cold.

"The hell..?!?"

"What is this..?!?"

"It's Ashley." Savanna was the first to look away from the window, going back to the center of the room. "Her magic is familiar at this point, but I have no idea what she's trying to do."

"We need to go back.." Iv said, now deep in thought.

Noah quickly wrapped an arm around her. "You're not leaving the house."

"But-!"

"I'm not letting you put yourself in any more danger, not when you're this tired, you can't take anymore!"

"Noah, this is my problem, I need to fix it!"

"No, you don't!"

Iv wanted to argue back, but Noah's stern look told her otherwise. It was her problem, but he was right, she couldn't do much. Not when she was still reconvening her powers.

She finally let out a heavy sigh. "Alright, I'll stay with Alyse.. You guys can go and check things out.."

A small smile grew on Noah's face, she could see the relief in his eyes. She didn't want to stay, she hated staying home knowing others would be out. It made her feel uneasy, unable to stay still; not to mention it made her feel useless.

Savanna had already casted a spell to protect them as the others followed behind. Alyse sat on the couch, looking out the window with a worried expression as Iv gripped her arms, looking out as well.

The others waited outside for Noah, who stayed in silence as he watched his best friend torment herself inside. He gently cupped her face, tilting it to face him as a rush of pink crossed her cheeks.

"Hey... we'll be okay..." He placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "I promise..."

If she wasn't red before, she certainly was now. She could only stare up at him, at his hopeful eyes, at his comforting smile.

She waited a bit before leaning into his warm touch, closing her eyes at the feeling as she placed her hand over his. "Just be careful..."

"I will..."

They both stared into each others' eyes for a while. They thought about kissing again, their first and last time had felt amazing. But this was no time for that, the world couldn't wait.

With one last hug, Noah left to join the others, leaving Iv standing in the middle of the room as she bit her lip, nervousness coursing though her.

She looked over at her little sister, who looked back with the same concern. Walking over and sitting beside her, she let out another heavy sigh, Alyse snuggling against her side.
