The door of the bedroom is still open when I wake up.  I get out from under the sheets. "Ellie?" I reach for my neck and massage it for a bit. I groan as I turn my head. Must've slept wrong. "Ellie?" I look around the door into the living room. "Where are you?" The fire has died down and on the dining table, there is a tray of food. I yawn while I put a loose strand of hair behind my ear. I walk back to the hallway and open the door to the bathroom. I frown when I don't find her there. I check the next room. It's another bedroom. "Ellie, you in here?" The door creaks as I push it open. There's no one in there. I quickly walk back to my room and take my pants from the floor. I step in the left pant leg, almost tripping as I try to make my way to the front door. In the hallway I manage to step into the other pant leg and I pull the pants up, jumping to get them over my feet. I grab my boots and step into them, stuff the laces between my feet and the boots and pull open the front door. There's a fresh layer of snow covering the path that leads to the main street. "Shit." I walk down the flight of stairs that go down to the ground and step into the cold snow. It reaches to just beneath the top of the boot. I walk through the thick snow as fast as I can, pulling my feet forward. It's heavy but when I reach the main street, the snow is gone. It has already been cleaned. I run out into the street, bumping into someone. "Y/N?" I look up to see Joel. I take a few steps back. I'm shivering form the cold, I should've taken my coat with me. "What are you doing here?" I shake my head. "It's a long story. Have you seen Ellie?" He purses his lips. "No, but Tommy went to visit her last night. Why?" I look down at my feet and play with the snow. "I can't find her anywhere." I run a hand through my hair and sigh. "Maybe Tommy knows where she is." He offers.

Tommy's house is only a few streets away. When I knock on the door, it opent to reveal a tired face and a warm stream of air flowing outside. "Goodmorning Tommy." Joel says with a smile on his face. Tommy reaches for the back of his head and massages it. "Moring." He groans. He steps aside to let us in. "Want coffee?" He holds up a pot and pours himself a cup. "No, thanks." Joel sits down on a chair close by the fire place. "You went to see Ellie last night, right?" Tommy nods and takes a sip from his coffee. "Where did she go?" I ask worried. "She went back." He leans against the kitchen table and takes another sip of his coffee. "Back where." I growl back. "To that settlement." Joel stands up and I take a step closer to Tommy. "And you didn't think to tell us this?" Joel is angry, really angry. tommy gets up and places his mug on the kitchen table. "I thought she told you." he says while looking at Joel." I shake my head and walk outisde. "Y/N, where are you going?" He stops me just outside the door. "Last time she wwas there, she lost someone very close too her. She almost died too, I can't risk that happening again." I try to step away from him to get to my horse nut he grabs my arm. "Let me come with you." I look at him confused. "I'm sorry?" I pull my arm away from his grip. "You need all the help you can get." He's right, I know he is. But can I even trust him? Last time I did that he turned out to be the reason I almost got killed multiple times. I sigh. "Fine."

"I'm really sorry, about all that happened to you." Joel says when we've been on our way for two hours. I look at him and shake my head. "Please just don't. I just want Ellie back, then I'm gone." Joel looks away from me. "You see that?" He asks. I follow his gaze and see a house, a freshly killed body in front of it.
