Distraction

"Where should we go?" I take a sip of my water, it's cold and my head starts aching. "Leo never really told us where it was." Y/N shrugs. Something is wrong. I can see it in her face. Ever since we left she's been silent. Not a word. "Y/N? You gotta talk to me." She looks up. Her face is red from the cold, especially her nose. She's like a reindeer and its insanely cute. "It's nothing. I'm just saving my strength for when we have to fight." I purse my lips. "And that includes no talking?" Y/N whips around and looks at me. I stare at her challenging. "I just...its weird." She spurs Arthur and trots in front of me. "What?" I try to ride next to Y/N, but the road is to narrow. The trees that grow on the sides are close together, barely giving us a chance to see past them. We're fucked if we get attacked now.  "I understand that you want to bring her back, I really do." Y/N looks back at me. "But I, I want you back too." A strong wind gashes through the trees, causing the snow to fall off the branches onto us. I wipe it away and try again to get next to Y/N. "What are you talking about?" Y/N stops very sudden, Her H/C hair swings around when she faces me. "I never stopped wanting you, the second I left you there in those woods, I regretted it." She shakes her head. "And now you have a girlfriend." She continues stepping through the snow. It's getting warmer, you can see. The snow is slowly melting. Weird, yesterday it felt like the coldest winter I've ever lived through and today it feels like a summer day high up in the mountains. "This is hard for me too, you know." The road widens, finally giving me space to ride next to her. "How can it be?" Her voice and face are cold. She clutches onto the reins. It looks like she wants them to break. "I'm feeling so much right now, Y/N. I feel love for you, for Dina. For both of you." I cough and take my bag from the saddle. All the way down, buried underneath food and blankets is my hat, I pull it out almost throwing all the food out. It's green with two flaps on the side to cover my ears. I stuff the blankets and food back in the clip it to the saddle again. "But you know too, that I can't just abandon her." She pulls me down from my horse. "What are you doing!" I fall down, landing on my hip. My clothes are instantly soaked and I think I'm going to die from the cold. Our horses take off, thankfully they stop only a few yards away. "Ssttt!" Y/N presses her finger against my lips. She pulls me back into the bushes. The branches pull at my skin. I growl when a sharp end opens the skin just below my eye. "Y/N!" I hiss. She points forward, where two guys are walking with rifles and a dog. "We have to follow them. I bet that where they're going, Dina is too." Her arm is slung over my back, keeping me close to her. I feel under my eye. It's only a small scratch. I wipe away the blood and clean my hands in the snow. "What about our horses and stuff." I lift my head to the horses. They're calmly standing there, probably freezing. "Maybe if we-" But it's too late, one of the guy's whistles, making the other guy and the dog run to him. They found the horses. "Go look around, I'll get whatever is useful from these horses." the guy with the dog nods and walks toward us. I dig myself deeper in the bushes. "we have to move, he's coming our way. I'll go this way." I say as I point to the left, away from the horses. "And I'll distract them so they both come my way. You get the horses." Y/N sighs. "That's the worst idea ever." I nod and look at her. That's when I get scared, I'm scared that I'll lose her if I go now. Maybe this is my last chance to see her, Kiss her. So I kiss her. I turn her face to me and kiss her. Y/N cups my face and kisses me back. The bushes rustle and I pull back. "Get the horses on my signal." I crawl back and make my way away from Y/N. I stay behind trees and bushes, hoping that they don't see me. When I look back, the man is almost by Y/N. The urge to sneeze comes up and I decide to do it. I stand on the road and sneeze, calling the attention of the men to me. They lookup. "Let's go!" It takes me a second to understand what is happening and I start running. The snow has started to melt a bit so running is easier than before. I look over my shoulder to see the two men following close behind me. And in the distance Y/N is on her horse, holding mine by the reigns. Then I fall.
