Chapter XXIII - Stop Dreaming. Wake up.

"... Not sure if you're awake enough to hear us, but I guess this is the... hm... Tenth time Ariel and I have visited you. I can understand why you did what you had done, but seriously..." a sigh is heard, "don't scare us like that. There's more to life - even if it might be difficult. Though I guess it'd be hard for you to die. But hey, I'll throw a party to celebrate your recovery when you wake up, okay?"

Then answer this - what is there to life, when the person does not want to be themself?

I knew well what would happen. After all, it was not easy... working so hard to try and better this world. Is it too selfish of me to want to sleep?

Perhaps it is. Perhaps I'm just overthinking things. But you know, O Raphael, it shouldn't just be one or two people who have to bring humanity closer to the future.

I understand that these emotions - these feelings - are nothing more than mere chemicals the human body and these senses are just systems that have been a product of evolution to keep our species from dying out.

The story of the individual's life feels like a rollercoaster - filled with the tragic, the comedic, the glorious, the noteworthy, and the unexceptional. That's just how we see it.

Will Jeremiel visit after you? He was always the brutally honest guy of the bunch. He always did make us see the "light" of the situation - especially with how his bright blonde hair seemed to glow in the light. He'd probably say

"Love has always been so powerful, Griffith. Nobody here can blame you - for the most part, I would say they would agree that grief is not easy to overcome. But it's pretty rude to ignore the people who would be willing to help you through it, you know? We all walk our own paths, but that does not mean you have to walk it alone."

Or something like that.

But I can't wake up.

Not yet.

Not until I finish it.

Until I am whole

Once more.

I sink again

Then I turned around,

to see another card.

Upright.

[Author's Notes]

So this chapter is definitely far shorter than what I had intended, but I figured I should stop before more is revealed.

In an earlier reply to a comment, I remarked how I like to use symbolism in my writing, so here is the first bit!
