Hope you enjoy chapter 37.

*2 weeks later*

(Josh POV)

It's been a couple weeks since Brooks been in that car crash and she's not showing any signs of improvement either.

I haven't been to the jail yet were they're keeping Sean. I've just been too mad at him and busy with checking in on Brook. I haven't even had enough sleep. Just staying awake with energy drinks and coffee.

"Just a few hours, Josh." My dad would say, but I'd tell him I wouldn't sleep until we find the outcome of Brook and her health.

I was coming back up from the cafe, grabbing myself another coffee, when I overheard my dad and the doctor talking.

"She's not showing any signs of improvement." The doctor says.

"So what are we going to do?" My dad asks.

Then I hear the answer I was dreading to hear.

"We can't keep her on life support any more. In an hour or so, we'll have to let her go. I'm so sorry."

"Let her go?" I cut in.

"Josh." My dad speaks.

"She's my sister. You can't just "let her go"."

"And she's my daughter. Listen, Josh, I know that losing Mom was tough, but Brook isn't showing any signs that she'll get better."

I throw my coffee away and sit down in a chair.

"I really am sorry, Josh." My dad says patting me on the shoulder.

"I'm going to go speak to her and then you can." He says before I hear his footsteps fade away.

Even though I'm upset that they're going to let her die, I'm also ok with it because I know she won't be suffering, which is a good thing.

After a bit of silence, my dad comes back.

I can tell he's been crying and he didn't want it to end like this. No one wants to lose someone that means the world to them.

I look at him and he nods at me. I stand up and walk over to Brook's room.

I brace myself and enter her room. The heart monitor shows that her heart is still beating, but very slowly. I then take a seat next to her and hold her hand.

"Brook, I know you want to stay strong and not let go, but as much as we hate it, you have too. I know I stayed strong for you, but your condition is worse. I'm sorry, Brook. We'll miss you very much and so will Adam, but you can't keep fighting, just let go."

I kiss the top of her head.

"I love you, Brook." I say as the tears start to flow and exit her room.

*15 minutes later*

(Adams POV)

I was thinking about Brook, when I got a text from Josh telling me I had to go to the hospital immediately. I told my mom where I was going and hopped in the car.

I got out of the car and headed to the floor where Brook's room was.

"Hey. What's wrong?" I ask when I noticed Josh had been crying.

"Brook. They're letting her go." He spoke.

I just froze. How could this happen? Why did it have happen to her?

I rush to her room and find her there, the monitor showed her heart is barely beating.

"Brook. It's me, Adam. I'm sorry this is happening to you, but you can let go. It's going to be ok. I love you and will never forget you." Just then the heart monitor has a long beep and I know she's gone.

I sigh and look at her now lifeless body.

"I got things to take care of." Josh says and leaves when I get to the waiting room.

*1 hour later*

(Josh POV)

I get out of my car and walk into the jail.

"I'm here to see Sean. It's something urgent." I tell the person at the front desk.

She nods and someone checks me to make sure I don't have a weapon or something like that and leads me to a room with two chairs and two phones separated with a thick, glass wall.

Sean soon comes out and takes a seat.

"Josh, before you start ranting about how you hate me, I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I don't know what got over me."

"She's dead."

"What?"

"Brook's dead. She died a little over an hour ago in the hospital."

"That's impossible. I got her out of that place."

I shake my head.

"Tom and two other guys were trying to run from the cops and got into an accident two weeks ago."

"She's been out the entire time?"

"The two weeks following the accident? Yeah. The doctor who was caring for her said they couldn't keep her on life support. So they cut it."

"I'm so sorry, Josh."

"The only reason why my anger towards you is less than before is because without you, she'd still be there or worse, died there. You did what you could and I appreciate that."

"I did try, man. I just wish it didn't have to end like this."

"Nobody did, but what's done is done." I say.

He nods.

"I'll come back soon alright?"

"Sure."

I was starting to walk away, when he speaks up.

"Josh?"

"Yeah?"

"Take care of yourself and your dad."

"I will." With that, I walk out of the jail, to my car and head home.

Thoughts of Brook swim in my mind  and how much I already miss her.
