"diana! save me! i'm wounded!" kai screamed out for his girlfriend who laid perfectly still with a wide smile on her face, 'topping up' her natural golden tan.

"sorry, no can do, i don't play games with children." the slightly older girl teased with a smirk plastered on her soft, feminine featured face.

hearing his girlfriends words, kai slumped falling to the ground, succumbing to the attacks fired by his younger sister and her best friend.

soaked from the torture from the girls before him, that forced him into submission, kai screamed out in surrender, claiming that he has had enough.

georgia-rose and lily naively gave into his pleas and advanced on him, ready to help him up, suddenly feeling slightly sorry and guilty looking at the boy, drenched with ice cold water from the frosted over tap.

as a flurry of apologies left the girls' lips, kai saw his window of opportunity and swiped their feet out from underneath them, causing them to fall backwards, sparking a fight between the three.

amidst all the commotion, a loud sigh was heard from behind them, "well, well, well, look how the turntables."

the group furrowed their eyebrows simultaneously, hesitatingly turning their gaze off of each other, towards the girl standing above them, confusion evident on each of their faces before realisation struck them.

the day with lily was pretty uneventful. we took on our typical routine for when we go out. she drove us to mcdonald's and somehow managed to find a new place for us to sit, completely alone, whilst her car radio played every single song sang by one direction all the way through until there were no more songs to listen to, making inside jokes that related to at least one of the 5 members of the band.

lily drove me home but decided to stay the night knowing that it wouldn't bother my dad and that my mum stopped caring about whatever i did the day kai died, knowing that if she cared, she would have to face me.

she flopped down onto my bed just as she did in the afternoon and laid staring at the popcorn ceiling above her that i had since i was a child with glow in the dark stars on it. she inhaled deeply and let out an exaggerated breath as if signalling to me that i wasn't being entertaining enough for her even though we spent all day together.

"what do you want lily?" i asked with a smile playing on my lips, letting her know i was entirely joking.

"what's the story behind the stars? i mean, what in the world compelled you to put these shitty little stickers on your ceiling? they're not even cute."

after she had finished her rant, i giggled slightly before shrugging my shoulders at her despite her not looking at me, glaring at the glowing stars above her, conveying a new hatred towards such a small thing. i soon realised that i needed to verbally communicate my answer and proceeded to tell her that i have no idea why i liked them or why i put them there.

and truly, i didn't.

lily then turned to look at me, scrunching her nose and eyebrows.

"well, they're stupid."

i put my hand to my chest and gasped, jokingly mad at her for insulting my childhood self through her harsh words about the stickers i was once so obsessed with.

"don't you dare talk about my stickers like that ever again, otherwise i'm gonna have to fight you and you know i'll win."

"bring it on, the best man wins. perish whore!" lily smirked before throwing all of her body weight at me in an aggressive lunge.

spoiler alert: i won.

we fell asleep shortly after, easily settling due to the absolute exhaustion from the fight.

i woke up not too long afterwards though, finding myself not being able to move. i looked down to find a sleeping lily with her arms wrapped around my torso, dribbling onto my shirt. nice.

i managed to slip out from her grasp and made my way downstairs as quietly as i possibly could, trying not to wake anyone up.

as i reached the last of my creaky steps, i noticed my mum sitting at the dining room table drinking her coffee in silence. it wasn't unusual for her to be up this early but i didn't really expect to see her. around her, i felt unwelcome in my own home.

grabbing a glass of water, i drank it as fast as i could, ready to run back upstairs so i wouldn't have to be under her harsh gaze for any longer. i turned to face the hallway leading to the stairs when i heard a hoarse voice behind me.

"stay. please."

at first, i really didn't believe what she was saying to me but i sat down opposite her nevertheless.

we sat in a silence that was far from comfortable for a couple of minutes, although, it really did feel like i was sitting there for a thousand years. her eyes never meeting mine.

she broke the silence by muttering a quick 'sorry' that if you wasn't paying attention, it would be completely incoherent, before standing up, knocking her chair over in the process and rushing to the kitchen where she often felt content.

i didn't waste a second before standing up and darting to the stairs, eager to make it back to lily, the place where i often felt most content.

tears brimmed in my eyes, more or less impairing my vision, as i made my way up the stairs, catching my dad at the top by crashing into his somewhat rounded body.

"easy, tiger" he laughed. slipping past me to join my mother downstairs, not taking any notice to the state that i was in.

when i made it to my room, lily was still asleep. i decided to wake her up, needing her to occupy my mind before i broke down entirely.

wiping away the tears, leaving my eyelashes partly damp, i shook lily as gently as i could, trying not to startle her, feeling bad for waking her up, before telling her to get her shoes on.

she grabbed her glasses, surprisingly not complaining about the awakening and the instant orders coming from me, before grabbing her dirty vans and slipping them on her feet.

"where are we going?" she questioned.

"our favourite place."
