Uncovering his head from under the covers, a yawn escaped Merrick's mouth. His raven locks were an absolute mess from his previous slumber, and his facial hair had rooted out, casting a grayish shadow on the bottom half of his face. "6:55 a.m." The sleepy man glanced over at his clock and sighed. Slowly and unwillingly, he crawled out of his comfortable bed. Another yawn emitted from his dry mouth as he stretched out his arms and proceeded to the bathroom.

While shaving, the handle to his razor cracked and the blade fell out. As the broken piece hit the corner of the sink; a strange feeling suddenly ran through him. A feeling of familiarity, as if what just happened had happened to him before. Déjà vu.

Of course it feels familiar. Merrick shook his head, trying to rid the ridiculous thought out of his mind. I shave every morning. He smirked. But then again...never has the razor broke...

Merrick arrived at his work place and as usual, he rushed in through the front glass door. He was a hardworking insurance agent, trying desperately to make his monthly quota so that he wouldn't be laughed at by his colleagues for having the lowest in the entire department. Almost everyone acquainted with him had signed up for an insurance plan from him. He didn't have many friends as a result. Although this wasn't the best job, there was a good side to it.

In fact, this was probably the one and only reason Merrick was willing to work there. The lad's name was Ferris Liang. The cutie, as Merrick would secretly refer to him as, worked at the advertisement company on the second floor, a floor below his office. To Merrick, Ferris was like a breath of fresh air. He might not be the most gorgeous guy to the eyes of the general public, but he was rather pleasant to Merrick's eyes. There was something about him that made Merrick's heart race. Perhaps, it was his sunshiny, outgoing personality.

Wearing a nice black suit which he had prepared since last week, Merrick smiled at the endless possibilities. Today was the day he was going to find out if Ferris shared the same feelings for him.

Merrick hurried to the elevator and managed to slip in before the doors shut.

"Please hold the doors!" a familiar voice called out.

It's him. Merrick's heart pounded as he frantically searched for the button to open the elevator doors. Unfortunately, he accidentally pressed the wrong button and they shut instead: closing right in front of Ferris's face the moment he got there.

Oh...darn it! I'm such an idiot! Smacking his palm against his forehead, Merrick cursed at his own stupidity.

Suddenly, a loud shot erupted outside and a scream followed. A bad feeling sprouted in Merrick's stomach. No. He pleaded. Don't let anything bad happen to him. He immediately pushed for the lift to stop at the next level. Impatiently waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the doors finally glided open and he sped out. Merrick took the stairway and ran downstairs as fast as he could. Not knowing how many floors he had passed, he reached his destination, panting heavily in cold sweat.
