Chapter 5: The Plan

I had a plan but I needed Emma's help. She had befriended Anaya, they talked like long lost best friends. So Emma would help me befriend Anaya, and after I gain Anaya's trust, I'll slowly tell her the truth with proves, that Adi would help me get.

We went back to the party and I made a small talk to Anaya, with Em's help of-course, talking with Anaya, it felt different, it was like I was again in my teenage, sitting in Anaya's room, waiting for her and the party ended on a pleasant note, with Anaya telling me 'Stay in touch.'

The next few days passed away in a whiff. December started and bought the cold with it. I had a problem with cold since my childhood. It always meant runny, red nose and sore throat for me, and those winters were nonetheless the same. December being Emma's birthday month, which was on 4th December, was a special month for her.

I had planned a surprise for Em. I acted like I didn't realise it was her birthday month. The surprise was planned in Goa, Emma always had a thing for beaches, so I had planned a big birthday party for her in Goa, also it meant I could escape this cold winter. I called Anaya on the evening of 2nd December, she was in a meeting. I waited for her call the whole evening, but she didn't called back, in the meantime, I called Adi and told him about my surprise and he was all too happy to help me.

It was late night, around 2:30, when I suddenly got a call from an unknown number, having just watched some horror-thriller, it scared the crap out of me, I picked up with great bravery and whisphered a shaky, 'Hello' and I was greeted by the sweet voice of Anaya.

'Hey, Anaya here! This is my business number. Is it bad time? I just got home and saw your missed call.' She said

'Oh, it's you Anaya. Isn't it quite late to get home?' I said re-checking the time, and stifling a yawn.

'I know, but it's normal for me now. The meetings with members from US usually ends late.'

'Oh! You had something to eat?' I asked

'Yup, I had some sandwiches. You called earlier, something important?' she asked

'Oh yes. Actually it's Emma's birthday on 4th December, I am throwing a surprise party for her in Goa, also, we'll be staying there for a week or so. So I called to invite you. Will you be able to come?' I asked.

'Wow, surprise party. Nice, I don't know Dev, I'll see if I am able to get some days off. I'll let you know by tomorrow.'

'Okay, it'd be very nice if you'd come. I promise you won't get bored.' I said

'That I know. I can't get bored when you are around.' She said as she lightly laughed.

'Okay then, let me know by tomorrow and now I'll let you get some sleep. It's already quite late.'

'Yes. Good night Dev.'

'Good night Anaya.' I said as I waited for her to cut the call and after few seconds she hung up.

I lied down on my bed. Sleep far away from my mind.

'How am I gonna bring Ranbir's reality in front of you?' with thousands of scenarios running in my mind, sleep invaded me.

I woke up as someone splashed a bucket of cold water on my face.

'WHAT THE HEL-' i woke up with a jolt and looked around to see a laughing Em and Rudra standing by my bedside laughing out loud.

'ARE YOU GUYS MAD OR WHAT? Who does such a thing in these cold chilly mornings?' I asked annoyed at their laughs, pulling the dry side of duvet to cover me.
