Chapter 6: Happy Birthday!

I looked around and saw Anaya. A wide smile spread on my face as I saw her. The moonlight casted a godly glow on her face. Her hair were open and wavy. I couldn't see her properly in the low moonlight, but as she came closer I saw her clearly. The flames flickered in the background and I saw Anaya. She looked more radiant. Even the dim lights couldn't fade her glow. As I looked at her in awe, she snapped her fingers in front of me. 'Hey!' I whispered with a big smile. 'Hey. Surprised?' she said with an eyebrow up. 'Yeah! You were not coming? Then how and how did you know about resort?' I asked as I got confused.

'Ahem,' Em coughed behind us, 'You seriously suck at giving surprises D. I knew about your plan. I heard you talking to Rudra and that fake letter. Seriously D, you gave such a cliché surprise.' Em said and laughed as Anaya went and wished her with a hug.

'You were giving me the birthday surprise. So I thought of surprising you through your surprise only. It was my plan, I asked Anaya to say that she wouldn't come. After all I had to get my revenge on you, even for acting like you forgot my birthday.' Em explained how she contacted Anaya and planned this.

'That was not good. I did such hard work, and you already knew. I really am an idiot, I should have been working more secretly.' I said as I slapped myself lightly on my head.

'Okay, okay! Guys, if you all are done with all the surprises, can we cut the cake? Or are there any more surprises?' Rudra asked

'No, none from my side.' I said and gave raised my hands up.

'Can you guys wait for 1 minute or so? Actually Ranbir is just coming, he went to keep the luggage in our room.' Anaya said and my happy mood became a gloomy mood.

'Speak of the devil, and the devil appears!' I said as I saw Ranbir came running from the resort.

Em cut the cake while I popped the champagne and poured it for everyone.

'Happy birthday Emma.' I said as I fed her a piece of cake and gave her an envelope.

'What's this D?' she asked.

'Well, you remember how when we were in Maui and you wanted to go snorkeling, but since I was not well, you cancelled your plan. Well we are going snorkeling tomorrow and then on a cruise ride to celebrate your 26th birthday.'

'Oh My God! D, thank you soooo muchhhhh!!' I could sense how excited Em was by her bone crushing hug.

'Wow, Dev, you sure need to up your surprise game, but your gift game is on point.' Anaya joked.

'I do what I can to make my dear ones happy.' I responded with a shrug.

We spent the rest of the night enjoying some music and beer and eating barbeque snacks along the seashore.

I stole some glances at Anaya, she looked genuinely happy, and then I looked at Ranbir, he looked somewhat sinister in the moonlight. Where Anaya looked like a beautiful angel, he looked like some ugly goon with his ugly beard.

'Okay guys, I am getting bored, let's play never have I ever.' Emma suggested.

'Yes, that's a great idea, I haven't played it since college. Let's do it.' Anaya agreed and everyone agreed

'I'll go first.' Adi said, 'Never have I ever gotten a tattoo.'

I took a sip from my drink and so did Emma. 'Don't tell me, you both got matching tattoos?' Rudra asked.

'What!? Noo, we have different tattoo's.' Em exclaimed as she turned back and moved her hair to a side, showcasing her "free" tattoo, written vertically, with a flying bird, on her neck.
