Chapter 15: One More Reason

I practiced dance with Jia for the next two days, while Emma and Adi tried to find some more proofs. 13th February came and the we all left for Goa. We had an late night flight, I had not slept well due to some official work, so I slept for most of the flight. Finally 14th February came and we reached Goa at around 1 in the afternoon and it took us another hour to reach Adi's resort. Ranbir's family as well as Adi's family were already waiting for us at the resort. We were welcomed by putting floral garlands around our neck. The resort was well decorated. After taking a bath I went to see the engagement venue, I was accompanied by Rudra.

The garden was looking mesmerizing, it had white and pink floral arrangement a floral statue of 2 swans was at the entrance of the garden. 4 setup of white and light pink colored tents with seating arrangements for 4 – 6 people were set up and a few chairs were put randomly between them. A stage was set at the far end of the garden, the dance performances as well as the engagement would happen on the stage, the dance performances would happen before the engagement, whereas the bride and groom's performances would happen after the engagement, a few steps beside the stage was where the DJ would setup.

I was looking around when I heard someone shouting loudly, I went towards the direction of the voice, it was Ranbir. Who was he talking to? He seemed angry from his voice. I hid behind a wall as I eavesdropped his talks. I gestured Rudra to come stand behind me.

'What do you mean? I told you, I told you it wasn't a good idea. But still you wanted to let loose and have some fun. NOW SEE WHAT IT LED TO.' Ranbir grating voice.

'What else would I suggest? Huh, what did you think I would accept this child, NO, I am getting engaged today, I am not going to let you or this stupid child get in my way. I told you, I shouldn't indulge in such an activity, but YOU, you said, baby, what your fiancé doesn't knows doesn't hurts, it'll be fun. You planned all this, right? I should have known, you would go to any extent to get me back. But I won't. I neither accept you nor this child, it's best you abort that filthy being growing in your womb and DON'T CONTACT ME. EVER. AGAIN.' He huffed, I could hear him speak those last words with clenched teeth.

I stood there, numb, this man got a girl pregnant and now he's rejecting that child. He doesn't loves Anaya, I was sure, then why would he leave that girl and his child, his own damn blood, for Anaya. I just stood there as I heard him leave, his footsteps fading.

'Bro, we need to tell Emma and Adi, this guy is another level low. He, how could he? The way he spoke about his child. I never thought he was this level steep and narrow minded.' Rudra said in a disgusted voice.

'I know Rudra, we need to do something quick. Adi should be on flight right now, I'll drop him a message.' I said as we both left to inform Emma about Ranbir's this cheap act.

After searching the whole resort, we found her in Anaya's room.

'Emma, we need to talk to you.' Rudra said as he barged into Anaya's room.

'Woah there, calm down Rudra, slow down, is this a way to enter a girl's room?' Emma said, clearly irked.

'I am sorry on his behalf, but there is something, we need to discuss with you Em, it can't wait.' I said entering the room behind Rudra.

'What's such an important topic?' Anaya asked

'Nothing Anaya, just about a surprise we planned for you.' I said with a smile.

'Oh wow, one more surprise.'

'Wait, I know about this surprise, but what's the other surprise?' Em asked

'Dev is giving a performance with his friend Jia. By the way, Dev, where is Jia? Is she here yet?' Anaya said, Em and Rudra gave a knowing nod.

'No, not yet, on her way. Would reach before lunch.' I said and continued, 'Em, shall we?'

'Yes, I'll be back in a minute Anaya.' Saying so, we left.

I walked them both to my room and closed the door.

'What was so urgent? Has Adi reached?' Em asked.

'No, it's something else, something big. Ranbir has an unborn child.' I said plainly.

'WHAT!?' Em stood up from the sofa,

'Yes,' Rudra said and explained what all occurred in the garden.

'Oh my god! How could he do this? Is he even human? How, I never thought he would do something like this. Damn, we need to get our plan in motion, and that too fast.' Em declared.

'Yes, I know, as soon as Adi lands, I am telling Anaya everything, I can't wait for the performance.' I said as I paced around in my room.

I was contacting Jia, but her phone was also unreachable. During lunch time, I again tried her phone, it was still unreachable. I was about to redial her number, when I got a message from Adi on our group,

"Hey Guys,

Sorry man, but my flight got delayed, I would be able to reach by tomorrow only. I am sending you the video in the meantime, just go ahead with the plan. I'll confirm everything with Anaya tomorrow. And I got your message, this is just one more reason to stop this engagement, given how Ranbir is, I am not shocked, surprised, yes but shocked, no.

I looked over at Emma, she looked my way and nodded, I looked at Rudra and he did the same. I quickly finished my lunch and went to Anaya's room. I couldn't wait any longer, I had to tell Anaya everything and get it all out of my heart. I rushed towards her room, it was locked. I knocked, and got a reply to come inside. I went in and what happened after I entered Anaya's room. Nothing could prepare me for it.

'Anaya, I wanted to tell you somethi--' I stopped in my tracks when I saw Anaya, and beside her were Ranbir and Jia. I looked at the 3 of them, Anaya just stared at me, while that Ranbir gave me his signature smirk.

'Jia, what are you doing here?' I asked Jia, overcoming my initial shock.

'I am sorry Dev, I couldn't do it.' Jia said and rushed off, with a hand covering her mouth.

'What?' I stood, confused, what was happening?

'I'll give you a moment babe.' Ranbir said as he gave Anaya a sympathetic pat on her shoulder and he left, but not before nudging me and flashing his smile on his way out.
