I sat cross legged on the floor, my back leaning against Alex's arm and my head fixed into the crook of his neck. He was warm and surprisingly cosy. I peeked at his arm. A laugh snuck out of my throat yet again and suddenly I just couldn't stop. I tried to cover my laugh through my palms but they just turned into snorts.

He leaned forward and moved the glass on the floor further away from us.

"Is someone a little drunk?"

"What?" My eyes widened. "No, I've never been drunk before."

"First time for everything..."

His arms were wrapped up snug against me. I closed my eyes and listened to his breathing. Every exhale and inhale made his arms move slightly and I wanted to laugh again so bit my lip to stop.

I eyed the two empty bottles of Bombay Sapphire and furrowed my eyebrows in thought.

"I only had two bottles."

Alex coughed loud. "I'm sorry, what?"

"I have a very strong tolerance," I said, jutting my chin out proudly.

"You don't say..."

I moved away from leaning on Alex and turned to face him.

"You've got a freckle on your nose." I said, poking at it.

"Well, aren't you an observant one." He laughed and stretched out his arms.

"What happened between you and Jayden?" My voice dropped low.

He looked over my shoulder and I turned to see Rose coming into the room.

"What makes you think something happened between me and Jayden?" He asked, facing me but staring at Rose. Even in my newly drunken state I could feel the tension.

She rolled her eyes and looked over at me.

"She deserves to know. We all know what he's like and he's very good at getting what he wants. As you already know."

"Who? Jayden?"

"She still has another two weeks until her birthday. Let her relax and live her life until then. She doesn't need to know right now." Alex answered back, completely ignoring me.

"Live my life? What does that even mean?" I stood up and stamped my foot and stumbled slightly.

Alex eyed my foot and raised an eyebrow. Rose bit her lip as if suppressing a laugh. I ignored their reactions. I just wanted to know what was going on.

"Okay."

"Okay?" I was getting impatient.

Rose eyed Alex. Her face serious and arms folded. This had sobered us both up.

"Okay, we'll tell you." She looked over at me, her face seemed sincere. "But not now. Jayden should be here. In all honesty, he should be the one to tell you..."

Alex scoffed.

"Now you're both worrying me." I glanced back and forth between the pair.

"Have an early night. I'll give you some space and I'll head to sleep in the guest room. I'll make pancakes in the morning and we'll talk then. Okay?"

"And I can stay here with Violet," he loosely slung an arm over my shoulder.

I felt my cheeks heat up.

She reached out without waiting for my answer and yanked Alex out of the room by his arm.

"But I-" My door quickly shut.
