With my eyes closes I stretched my arms out and rotated my neck. The bed felt so comfortable that I was scared to open my eyes and lose what little sleep I still had left.
My head started pounding as I, against my better wishes, started gaining consciousness. I lifted a hand to my forehead and groaned.
"Queen Persephone, I'm glad you're finally awake. The King will be very pleased about this."
My eyes shot open and I saw a short middle aged woman standing by my bed. She had greying bright orange hair that she had neatly tied in a high bun and a traditional maid's outfit.
I opened my mouth to scream but she quickly rushed over and placed a hand on my shoulder. "No, my Queen. You mustn't scream. You don't want to alert the King before you're in presentable attire." Her blue eyes met mine and she offered a kind, but strained smile.
Word one stuck out.
"K-king?" My voice wavered and my eyes widened.
She hesitated. "King Hades, of course."
My eyes didn't leave hers once as I screamed as loud and high pitched as I thought was possible.
I scampered backwards on the bed until I reached the other side and quickly jumped off.
Her eyes widened and for a second she looked afraid at my reaction, before quickly regaining her composure.
"My Queen-"
"Stay the hell away from me!"
I took steps backwards until my back hit the bedroom window. I grunted internally at the fact that long silky black curtains covered the window so I couldn't immediately see how far up I was.
The door flew open and suddenly both of us were quiet. I held my breath in anticipation of who I knew would be walking in.
A monster.
Dean swiftly walked in with concern etched on his face. He wore a crisp white, button-up shirt with his sleeves rolled up, along with some dark grey smart trousers and a black tie. I was surprised to see him dressed like this. It was a big change from his usual collection of a hoodies and trainers.
As much as he frightened me, I was taken aback by how good looking he looked.
His concern quickly morphed into a smile and before I knew it he was stood in front of me. I pushed my back as close to the window as possible.
"My King-"
"Leave." His voice stayed level and composed. His eyes never leaving mine. The maid however, quickly scampered off as if he had lowered a gun from her head and suddenly told her to leave.
As the door shut behind her, I couldn't stop the whimper at the back of my throat and tears from escaping my eyes at what will happen now.
"Don't cry." His hand shot out to wipe the tears from my eyes but I flinched away before he could touch me.
"Please say something," he pleaded, looking me in the eyes. I stared back. What would I say?
I stayed silent. My heart was beating quick and hard.
He sighed and gestured to the window I was standing in front of. "Let's get some daylight into the room."
I wordlessly moved aside as he opened the curtains to reveal a massive wall to floor window.
Opening up the curtain quickly lit up the room. I looked around at the gold, black and red regal theme to the huge room.
It was grand. It was luxurious. It was beautiful.
