That morning was the most beautiful of all the days for our house got a cordless telephone and more so because I had got an reply from my first pen friend.
Locking myself in the room I read the letter. Shabby writing and yet a lovely poem adored the notebook sheet. Just like me, my friend had written just three like but these lines were a start to a new relation....a relation that was going to last forever.
I immediately began writing, faster the letter reaches this person, the faster I would get a reply. My hand couldn’t move forward for a single letter, a sudden got gripped me....I was writing to a boy, surely it was against my principles. But the joy of having a pen friend was slightly overpowering. It was a battle between my heart and my brain. Heart telling me to forget the difference in gender and go ahead with this friendship and my brain arguing that society would hang me upside down if they find this.
After a fruitless argument I decided to apologise in the letter and cut of the friendship. As I started writing again, my heart won over my brain and made me write as I wish...like a friend to a friend.

Tumse chitti paakar bahot accha laga. Socho toh, tumne apna naam Prem likhar beja aur maine Suman...jaise hum dono Maine Pyaar Kiya ke hero heroine hai. Aur isse yaad aata hai Dosti ka usool, no sorry no thank you. Tum bhi yeh yaad rakhna aur nibhana bhi. Waise dosti toh bharose pe tikthi hai toh mera naam Naina hai. Tumhara naam janne ke liye vyakul hu. Address se toh pata chai gaya hoga ki mein yahi Ahmedabad mein rehti hu. Yahi VJN University mein padhti bhi hu. Aur ghar walo se chupakar kath likh rahi hu....Waise mere ghar me in chachaji chachiji aur Preeti meri behen rehte hai. Tum apne baare mein batakar bejo chitti. Iss behenji ko dost banane ke liye thank you.

The letter seemed really stupid but the urge to connect to my first pen friend made me post it immediately. Sending it to his address made me feel relieved and happy....I was desperately waiting for his reply....
