Chapter 9

"Gaara! Your shirt!" I smirked as I noticed his shirt.
"I was actually wondering what colour you'll choose, but you chose red. I have a lot of red clothes." He smiled.
"You are really going all out for this, aren't you?" I chuckled a little and he returned a smile.
"Ready?" He asked and took my hand.
We both nodded, stepped out and proceeded to the wedding.
When we arrived a lot of guests were already there, the five kages,their aids and their girlfriends, my team who had made their dresses, certain kids and dogs. Temari-san was still in her room.
I went to check in on her dress.
"Temari-san? How's the dress?" I asked entering in.
"It's beautiful" said a unknown cheery voice.
"Did you really make this?" Another shortand pink haired woman asked. Surprised.
"Yeah." I hesitated a bit.
"Temari-san really looks beautiful in this dress. Thank you for all your efforts." Another woman smiled gentle with her dark purple shirt hair.
"Yamanaka Ino-san, Haruno Sakura-san and Uzumaki Hinata-san, Thank you for all the compliments" I smiled at them gently not to appear too bold or shy.
"Hein?!" Ino-san gasped, "How did you tell which of us was which? We haven't met before!"
"I could tell by the styles of your dresses. I assigned clients to my teammates based on their speciality. For example, Ino-san's mermaid blue dress is totally Frasch style. Just alluring enough to show off your figure, but also flowly enough to be comfortable!" I said as I gestured with my hands unknowingly.
"Wow. You really are an expert." Hinata-san smiled.
"Ofcourse. That's why we hired her to do my dress" Temari-san stepped out of the changing room and came forward in her dress.
"Temari-san" I said and she looked so beautiful. I had tears in my eyes looking at her. All my efforts, all Gaara's efforts were looking so beautiful on her.
"Oh my god!" Sakura-san exclaimed, "You look like an angel! Temari!"
"This side lace instead of just a stitch is such a wonderful idea!" Ino-san appreciated.
"It has a story behind it" Temari-san winked at me.
"I'm gonna go get Gaara" I said wiping the tears off my eyes.
"Gaara! Gaara!" I ran up to him, "You have to see Temari-san!" I said as I dragged him towards her crying.
"Wow. Temari. You look beyond beautiful" Gaara said with his eyes wide and jaw dropped.
"Shikamaru is one lucky guy" Hinata-san winked.
"Let's go now! It's time for the wedding." Ino-san said.
Everyone left except Gaara and Hinata-san. She was Temari-san's bridesmaid, and Gaara was walking her down the isle.
Everyone got back to the lawn. I spotted Hanabi-san in her dress and was proud of the work. It was the same with Karui-san, and then there was Matsuri.
Shikamaru-san stood near the priest waiting for his wife.
Temari-san slowly appeared into his sight and he was completely taken aback. He started tearing up and crying. Naruto-san was smiling as wide as he could. Hinata-san put the flowers in their way as Gaara walked her to Shikamaru-san.
"Do you, Sabaku no Temari, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked.
"I do" she said calmly.
"Do you, Nara Shikamaru, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest asked.
"I do" he said choking and biting his lip.
"By the power bestowed upon me by the holy spirit, I pronounce you man and wife. You may do your vows and kiss the bride." He said.
The crowd was in cheers as they did their vows and kissed each other.
They held hands and turned to everyone congratulating them. Temari-san threw her bouquet in the air and it landed in Ino-san hands.
She coyly looked at Sai-san and blushed. He blushed too since he had read in a book about what it meant.
"Let's dance" Gaara said as the slow dance music started and everyone for with their partners.
I took his hand and stood close to him. I wove one of my hands in his and placed the other on his shoulder. He put one of hands to mine and other on my waist.
"I didn't know you could dance" I did to him blushing like there was no tomorrow.
"I didn't. I just learnt a few tricks from Sai" he smiled.
He removed the hand on my waist and twirled me around, picked me up gracefully and put me on the ground.
"Wow." I said to him surprised he learnt so much. I looked back and saw Sai-san and Ino-san doing the same thing.
"Now I get it" I chuckled.
"Pretty good for first time, huh?" He smiled.
Then it was time for the feast. Everyone ate their fill. Especially Chouji-san. I always giggled a little looking at him. He didn't look like he was holding back. I also relished the mix of Konoha and Suna's delicacies.
All the girls sat around in a circle after the wedding along with Temari-san, gossiping about their lives. Hanabi-san and Akamaru were taking care of the kids.
"The wedding was wonderful" Sakura-san sighed of relief.
"Now you're officially coming to Konoha!" Hinata-san smiled at Temari-san.
"I'll leave a lot behind, but I will make sure to visit Suna frequently, or else Gaara will miss me a lot" she chuckled.
"No! No! Why would Gaara miss you, he has someone else now" Ino-san said nudging me.
I blushed and all the ladies laughed.
"Still, I think it's a good idea for you to frequent Suna. You're a big help here. They will need you" Karui-san said sounding very intellectual.
Everyone nodded and agreed with what Karui-san has said.
"So, Ino, when are you getting married to Sai?" Temari-san said while she was at it and giggled a little.
"Taaka! Temari!" She blushed and glanced at the bouquet.
"I'm sure Sai read about what it meant and all in a book." Sakura-san giggled.
"He's not like that anymore." Ino-san retorted, "He knows about human emotions now that he has experienced them."
Hinata-san laughed a little at Ino-san defending her boyfriend.
"Oi! Hinata! What is it?" Ino-san asked her.
"It's nice of you to defend your boyfriend, Ino. I like it" she smiled.
"It's not like that" Ino-san buried her face in her hands.
Everyone chuckled.
"Shikamaru-san is a very lucky guy to actually get Temari-san's hand in marriage." I finally spoke up.
"Damn right he is" she smiled her scary but bright smile.
"So, how is Gaara as a boyfriend?" Hinata-san asked me, "I mean Naruto-kun always talks about how he and Gaara are great friends but I didn't imagine Gaara having a girlfriend." She continued thinking.
"He is very soft, protective and..." I thought about, "and dumb" I laughed a little.
"Aren't all guys?" Karui-san commented and we all laughed.
A girl with buns came over to the group, "If you guys aren't done gossiping, may I join?"
"We will never be done gossiping, Tenten. Come sit." Ino-san patted the grass tuft next to her.
"Thank you" said the gorgeous woman in space buns.
She settled down in between Ino-san and Hinata-san.
"So, Tenten, how's your weapon shop?" Sakura-san asked her. Everyone consciously made an effort not to mention their love lives in front of her.
"Make sure to visit Konoha sometime, ne?" Tenten-san smiled at me.
"Ofcourse! And while you're at it, visit my flower shop!" Ino-san cheered.
"And visit the Hokage and his wife!" Hinata-san winked.
"And get admitted in the hospital" Temari-san laughed looking at Sakura-san. We all laughed a lot and finally went to our own chambers.
I went into the washroom to get changed. I took off the dress and my bra and tights and took a shower. I wore my lose sports tank and pajama pants over it. I let my hair down and say in front of the mirror to comb it. Just when I began, I heard a knock on a door.
"May I come in?" He smiled his sunshine smile.
"Gaara" I stood up in my place with the comb in my hand after turning around to look at him.
"Did I interrupt something? Did I come at the wrong time?"he asked looking at the comb.
"Oh no." I realized I was still holding it. "Come in, please." I welcomed him.
"It was a nice ceremony. Everyone looked so happy, they had smiles on their faces, everyone was enjoying eating, talking, laughing and having fun with their friends." I put my comb back at the dressing table.
"Yes. That is very true." Gaara said closing the door behind him.
"I enjoyed too." He smiled at me in the dim moonlight. He slowly stepped towards me.
I looked at him walk towards me with this certain glow in his eye.
"Gaara! What if someone comes and sees us?" I was skeptical.
"Everyone is busy with their girlfriends, and so am I" he said calmly.
He stepped forward and stood right in front of me, "I don't want to make any move before confirming your feelings and comfort. So, I have sorted out my feelings about us and I have only one thing to say to you. I love you. I'm gonna kiss you now, if you don't want me to, tell me." He said and stood there waiting for an answer.
"I-I-I-I" I didn't know why I was stuttering so much, "I will tell you my real feelings, but before that I want to confirm something. Do you really remember me?" I asked him.
"I remember a raven haired girl getting dragged on the streets by her legs because her family had to sell her to pay rent. I remember the girl looking at me crying and asking me for help. I remember how much pain I felt looking at you like that. I remember killing the person dragging you after your family had given up hope of seeing you alive. I remember you hugging me crying and thanking me. I remember how calm and happy I felt after doing that. I remember you not listening to anyone who called me "The Monster" or "The Ultimate Weapon". I remember you saving me from my father once by arguing with the then Kazekage even as a kid because you considered me your friend. I remember seeing you being dragged away from me by your family on the Kazekage's orders. I remember you being beaten up by your family because you insisted on being friends with me. I remember how painful it was for me to distance myself from you. But I won't let that happen to you anymore. You have suffered a lot because of me. You have been to hell because of me. I can't do anything more than apologize for that. So, please forgive me." He said holding me in his arms, embracing me in a warm hug.
"You remember, everything?" I looked at him surprised. He just stopped coming to see me one day and I thought he forgot about me. I thought he didn't care anymore. I thought he didn't think I was worth his time.
"All this time, you felt so lonely, ne?" I hugged him back tightly, "All this time, you went through all that to protect me, ne? All this time you felt the same pain as I did, ne? How can I not love you, Gaara? I love you. I love you so much" I hugged him and cried to my heart's content.
