He keeps his arms around his sister, soothing the soft and anxious cries she releases. He doesn't know how to comfort her, to console her, to let her know that she will never be alone as long as he's around.
He picks her up and carries his broken half into the mansion. He holds her close to his chest, hoping the sound of his heartbeat will magically sooth her into a peaceful slumber. He ascends the stairway and moves past the many figures upkeeping the mansion. He can feel their eyes on his back and hear their loud whispers, clear as day.
'What happened?'
'Looks like she had another episode.'
'I heard she was getting better.'
'Poor girl, she's too young to be going through this.'
