summary: Steve and Bucky are together. Steve doesn't know how he's done it, but he's happy. His mom just died and Bucky asked Steve to move in an apartment with him, Steve was hesitant but he said yes. He's pretty sure they're going to last. But is that so?
warnings: smut, hurtful language, slurs, mentions of blood and injuries and it's kinda sad guys
timeline: 1934, Steve is 16 and Bucky is 17
extra: I normally don't write smut unless they're both 18 or older but I think it really fits this story. Also this story is inspired by the song Experience by Ludovico Einaudi, the idea is that at a certain point you put on the song and continue reading, I'll give a heads up when you can!

Steve can't stop crying, he's devastated. His mom died five days ago and he just went to the funeral, it was nice, peaceful. Not many people were there. A few of her nurse friends, non that Steve really knew that well. Her best friend, Bucky's mother, and the rest of the Barnes family.
Bucky was by his side the whole time, when he gave his goodbye speech, when he laid the white roses on her grave. He couldn't thank the Barnes family enough for paying for it all. He didn't want them to, but if he was to pay all of it himself, he wouldn't even been able to afford any type of a funeral.
She was buried beside his dad, the way she wanted it.
After the funeral the Barnes family had offered to bring Steve home, but he kindly declined. He wanted to walk. Before Bucky had his coat to walk with him, Steve was already gone.
On the way home he was freaking out. How is he going to live, he has no money, no job. He has tried but nobody wants to hire the scrawny looking kid.
When he walks up the steps towards the door, he hears footsteps behind him , he isn't scared, he recognizes that smooth walk. It's Bucky.
''Bucky please'' Steve starts, ''I was gonna ask'' he answers. ''I know what you're gonna say Buck, it's just..''
''We can put the couch cushions on the floor like when we were kids. It'll be fine'' he interrupts Steve '' all you gotta do is... shine my shoes ... maybe take out the trash.''
While Bucky is telling Steve his plan on living together, Steve is looking for his key, damn, where is it. Bucky shoves away this brick and gets the spare one, ''come one'' he says while handing it to Steve.
Steve sighs, he wants to, but, he doesn't want to become Bucky's burden. ''"Thank you, Buck. But I can get by on my own." Bucky sighs, "The thing is... you don't have to, I'm with you till the end of the line pal."
He lays down his hand on Steve boney shoulder and gives it a squeeze, he smiles at him and Steve smiles back. God how much that means to him, when Bucky says that.
''Alright then, come in" he says, and opens the door with the spare key. They kick off their shoes, old habit, Sara never wanted shoes in the house, and they crash down on the couch, or at least, Steve does.
''My parents have your key'' Bucky stars whilst sitting down next to Steve, ''When you were rushing to do your speech it feel out of your pocket you dummy'' Steve laughs, ''If I didn't have you guys, I'd be lost''
''We'll you'd definitely be homeless'' Bucky laughs with Steve before changing into looking a bit more, serious. Steve immediately notices, ''What's up''
Bucky grins, ''Damn, you know me too well Stevie, I wanted to do this subtle.'' He sighs and readjusts on the couch, ''My dad looked through your mom's paperwork a bit, to see how you'd end up after she's gone and he, found out your mom had been working really hard to have a little saving for you. So you'd end up good after she would die,''
