The next day...

After hiding in an abandoned house, I decided to go back to Theo's place. I don't know what to do now. My brother's gone. I've failed my job. To protect him. To be there for him. Now... I can't. As soon as I step into his place, I already feel anger and regret. But, I continue to walk in. Everyone looks at me with sorrow in their eyes. I know deep down they don't care, except for Barbara. But I just keep walking. I go into Jerome's room with a box in my hands. It's time to clean everything out. As I throw things into the box, I notice things he kept from when we were young. Like the stuffed animal I gave him when someone left. And the picture we took at him and someone's party. Before it fell apart... Why did he keep it? He never wanted to think about that person. But, I guess that was a good memory at first. And finally, I see a scrapbook. I look at the title and it reads 'To Jersey: Memories with my amazing sister/friend'. I look through it and see all of these pictures we took. I also noticed us in the newspaper.... I close the book and start to cry. I walk back to my room and throw things into a bag.

"Hey." I look back and see Barbara.

"Hey."

"What's in the bag?"

"Stuff."

"No shit. Why are you packing up?"

"I'm not... it's just Jerome's stuff."

"Look, I know it was hard to lose him. But remember, you can always stay here. I know you're pissed at Theo but he does feel bad. And he says you're welcome to stay as long as you want. Plus, I don't really want to be here with these assholes. But, you decide. And always remember, I'm here for you."

"Thanks Barbara." I give her a hug.

"No problem, kid. Anyways, you should head to bed. You look exhausted."

"Right, goodnight."

"Goodnight." I close my eyes as she turns the lights off and walks out. After a few minutes, I open my eyes. I continue packing, then I go to the window. I open it as quietly as I can. I look out and see how far down it is. It's not too far down as I expected which is good. I look back into the room and sigh.

"I'm sorry Barbara." I then jump down, and walk away from the people who ruined everything... Except Barbara.

30 minutes later....

I walk into an alley and put my hood on so no one notices me. I don't know where I'm going to go now, but hopefully somewhere safe.

"Hey!" I look behind me and see Harvey and Jim. Shit. Instead of running, I stand there shaking.

"Don't worry, we're not going to hurt you. We just wanted to know what you're doing." Jim says.

"Umm... just going to my friend's house." I said.

"Okay. Then what's in the bag?"

"Just clothes and... my phone charger."

"Okay then. Well, have fun and sorry to bother you-" Something then drops on the ground. Before I could pick it up, Harvey beat me to it.

"Hey, this guy looks familiar-" Oh no... "Wait a second. Jersey?" I started to run, "Hey! Get back here!" I kept running until I lost them in another alley. I look around just to be sure. They're nowhere to be found. I sigh, then turn around. I then bump into Jim. I tried to run, but Harvey was behind me. Jim puts handcuffs on me.

"I-I didn't do anything, I swear!" I said.

"We know, we just want to talk to you." We then walk to the police department.

Back to the interrogation room I go...

Hey everyone! Sorry this chapter is short! For my upcoming chapters, I pretty much know the basic plot of each one. I just need to figure out what exactly is going on. Also, I know how this book is going to end. I think this will be a bit long of a book. But I promise you, it won't be too long. The next chapter will be coming soon!
