-A few days before-

A girl walks out of a small tent, clad in a black suit of armor. She opens the curtain to the outside world.

Her eyes glistened before an endless sea of stars, floating above her head, more beautiful than one the real world could ever hope to come close to.

The great amounts of pollution and nuclear residue, remains of the Third World War, cover up all that the eye can see outside this fantasy. The world portrays beauty as if it were an abstract concept. Shown in a form of disgust, causing tears to fall from looking at what was once deemed beautiful.

This night sky before her was this beauty which had been taken from their world, the world of humans, the real world.

So came the need for simulations and technology, such as this.

The Dive Massively Multiplayer Online - Role Playing Game, or DMMO-RPG for short, Yggdrasil. Today was the final day that its servers would remain open for public use.

In other words, it was shutting down.

There were some rumors that a Yggdrasil 2 was in development, but those were nothing more than empty claims. With no evidence to show for it, today was named its finale.

Many players had spent countless portions of their lives for this game, and here it was, thrown all away.

This girl was one such person, one who devoted herself to nothing but the beauty that this world held.

Akemi.

Thus was her name.

She lived her life seeking adventure, constantly looking for a new path to explore or a secret boss to come across.

She had never joined a guild, nor had she wanted to. They would simply slow her down, limiting her freedom to explore.

This was a type of player very uncommon in the lands of Yggdrasil, but one who was highly respected. As they belonged to no guild, nor did they care for ranks or pvp, they would freely hand over whatever information they had on the world.

Many were content creators, showcasing never before found parts of the game. They simply wanted to see all that this world before them had to offer, and evoke a sense of adventure in anyone willing to join.

Even on her final day, she had never once lost her sense of adventure. To discover something new, to journey endlessly forward.

By following her path, she found herself before this landscape. A lush land filled with a vibrancy of color. Rich greens glow in the shine of the stars and reflective blue bodies of water showcasing the moon in all its holiness.

In the distance was a small village, an array of wooden houses with humans living within them

In the distance was a small village, an array of wooden houses with humans living within them. A watering well made of stone in its center and a lively forest to its left.

The sounds of this world's birds chirping and leaves whispering in the wind.

Truly a scene which befitted her definition of how this world should be, the beauty in it.

A tear slid down her cheek as her thoughts came rushing into her.

"This... this really is my final day here... I... I'm not ready to go... I don't want to leave..."

She looks at the clock to her upper left, trying to ready herself to say goodbye.
