Together at Last

As Ben and I were walking back to Lukes T-65 X-wing on Exegol, I finally felt free. Free of the first order, free of Palpatine, free to be with Ben, just free.

"So where to next?" Ben asks, wrapping his arm around me as we walk.

I look at him. "I don't know, I haven't even thought that far ahead yet."

"We need to face the resistance sooner or later."

"How about later?" I say and he chuckles.

We both get into the ship, stare deep into each others eyes and I lose sight of everything around us. In that moment it's just me, Ben and the stars. We were finally together.

I take his hand in mine and say "Are you ready to meet the resistance?"

"As long as I'm with you Rey, I'm ready for anything."

-TIME SKIP TO RESISTANCE-

When we finally reach the resistance I look out the window and there are crowds of people jumping, yelling and hugging- celebrating the fall of the first order and death of Emperor Palpatine. After I find a clearing and land the T-65 X-wing, Ben and I both exit and meet each other halfway around the ship. I scan through the crowd of people and after minutes of searching, I finally find Poe, Finn, Chewy and BB-8 standing by a flyer. I instantly feel relieved they all made it back unharmed but also nervous. What are they going to say about Ben? While lost in thought I come back to reality to see them all staring at me. They all seem to have a concerned looked on their face, like I don't know that Ben is beside me. I grab Bens hand and while maneuvering through the crowd, we start walking over to them. Their confusion turns to anger as they stare dumbfounded at me and Ben approaching. As soon as we reach the group BB-8 charges at me and Chewy follows him. BB playfully bumps into my legs until I bend down to greet him. After I stand back up Chewy gives me a hug and behind him Poe is waiting for me, with open arms. I hug him with everything I have and when we finally let go, I hear Finn talking from behind him.

"What is this killer doing here?" Finn says sternly while gesturing to Ben as he walks closer to Poe and I.

"Ben and I are ok, thanks for asking. By the way you're welcome for saving the galaxy along with the resistance." I respond.

"Im glad you're ok, thanks Rey for saving the galaxy. Now what is this killer doing here?" Finn repeats.

"Woah, settle down. We should at least hear him out." Poe says while holding Finn back from getting closer to Ben.

"Thanks Poe. This 'killer' helped save your life Finn so instead of pointing fingers at him you should be grateful to him."

"Thank you so much for defending me Rey but he doesn't owe me anything, no one here does. I am the reason we are in this whole mess anyways. I've done some terrible things in the past, unforgivable things. I want to apologize for everything I've done, for the people I've hurt and start over." Ben says while walking closer to me and putting his hand on my shoulder in attempt to calm me down.

"Ben, though I don't agree with everything you've done in the past, I respect you for coming here and owning up to it. I can truly see you are remorseful for everything you've done and though it may take some time to be forgiven by everyone, me included, as an Acting-General I say you're welcome to stay and become a new member of the resistance."

"Poe, you've got to be kidding me. After everything this guy has done you're just going to forgive him and let him stay here?" Finn argues.

"He has owned up to his mistakes and made up for them. If he wants to stay he's staying and that's final. All that matters is that Rey is back safe and he helped do that."
