Chapter 28

"Baby is time to go," Lexi whisper shaking me lightly. I opened my eyes and Lexi handed me my workout clothes and some orange juice. I got dressed and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I put my messy hair in a ponytail and grabbed my bag to meet everyone in the lobby. Lexi and I took the elevator down to the lobby with Bri and Tina. "Good morning sleepyheads, it's game day!" Coach Garcia said excitedly. "Which is why we shouldn't be practicing this early and take the time for extra sleep," said Cassie. "I agree," said Bri. "Well, you do realize that I can make you two do sprints if I want to, right?" Coach Garcia said and I laughed. We got on the bus and drove to the high school we've been practicing at, we grabbed our stuff and made our way to the fields. Lexi and I lead the warm-ups starting with our basics exercises then onto our dynamic flex. We went over some plays and made some changes to it since the practice was short and sweet we could go back to the hotel and shower there. "Wanna shower together?" Lexi asked and I smiled nodding. My phone started ringing and Adriana's name popped up.

-What's up?

-Can you come get me, please? my mom just hit me.

-Yeah, I'll be there in 5.

-Thank you.

I hung up the phone and left Lexi a note, I drove as fast as I could to her house and when I got there I found a crying Adriana. She jumped on my arms when she saw me and I just hugged her. "You stink," she said. "Sorry I was about to shower when I got your call," I said. "Oh shit, I'm sorry I forgot you have a game today," she said and I looked at my phone. There was a text from Bri telling me to get my ass back to the hotel since I have less than an hour to get ready. "Wanna tag along?" I asked and she smiled nodding. We got in the car and I drove back to the hotel, I tried to open the door but the key wasn't working so I knocked on it. "Hurry up Gabriella we're leaving in a few," Bri said. She never calls me Gabriella. "Where's Lex," I asked. "I don't know, I thought she was with you," she said and walked away. "Wait for me here I'm gonna take a shower," I said and she nodded. I grabbed my underwear and my towel.

Lexi's POV

I don't know how long I've been waiting for Gabby but I should really get out to let Tina and Bri shower. I dry my body and put on my underwear to later put the towel on my head to make my hair dry faster. I get out of the shower and Tina is in her bed while Bri is in the kitchen looking for food but Gabby is not in here, I look around and I see a note on the table next to our bed.

Babe, I'll be back soon Adriana needed me, I'll make it up to you. I love you ❤️

I don't know how long I can go pretending that I like her. Sometimes I hate that Gabby is way too nice and forgiving, people take advantage of that a lot. But it's always Adriana, sorry babe Adriana this and that. I put on my warmup shirt and my shorts my flats and grabbed my stuff and went to Cassie's room. "Wait, Lexi, where are you going?" Bri asked. "To clear my head," I said and she nodded. I tried so hard not to cry but when I got to Cassie's room I just couldn't hold it anymore. Cassie pulled me in her arms and I cried like I was baby.

"What's wrong Lex?" She asked. "I feel like she's going to leave me for her," I said in between tears. "What? No that's not possible, Gabby loves you very much," she said. "I know but I feel like she is better than me, Gabby really loved her too," I said. "You said it yourself, 'loved' its past tense. The girl she loves now it's you," she said. "I wish someone would look at me the same way Gabby looks at you, or the way she talks about you, trust me, she loves you and Adriana won't change that," she said rubbing my back. "If it makes you feel better no one likes her, Why don't you give her a call?" She asked and I nodded. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number.
