Gabby's POV
"This is a nice car," she said. "Yeah, Aurora is the only girl who won't hurt me," I said. "Aurora?" She asked. "That's my car's name," I said and she rolled her eye. She started the car and I started chugging the bottle not even feeling the burning in my throat anymore. "Where am I taking you?" She asked. "I don't have where to go," I said. "How? You seem loaded," she said. "The place where I'm staying at is full of people I don't wanna see," I said. She didn't say anything and she started driving. I didn't even notice when the car was parked, I am almost done with the bottle when she took it from my hands. "Hey!" I said. "You've had enough," she said helping me out of the car. My legs feel like jello, and I don't think I can stand up. The girl helped me inside the house, it's a pretty nice house for a bartender. I don't think they make much money, and she seems to live alone.
She sat me down on the sofa and then locked the front door. "I think I'm going to be sick," I tell her and she dropped everything and rushed me to the bathroom. I am currently holding a toilet while the bartender girl is behind me making sure I don't suffocate with my own vomit. I am so pathetic. "How do you afford this place?" I asked. "Damn, alcohol makes you rude and makes your filter disappear," she said and I just shrugged. "You didn't answer my question," I said. "My parents have money," she said. That would explain how she affords this place as a bartender but it leads to my next question on why she's working if she has all that money, I myself would be taking over the business, or further my education. She helped me up to the sink so I could wash my mouth just ended up hitting my head on the mirror. She took me back to the couch and sat on the table in front of me passing me a bucket. "Why are you a bartender?" I asked. "Damn, why am I being interrogated?" She asked and I rolled my eyes. "Let's just say that I had a good job, but my stupid ass fall for the wrong girl," she said. "What was your old job?" I asked. "I was a close protection officer," she said. "That's just a fancy way to say, bodyguard," I said and she rolled her eyes. "I was in the military, a field medic," she said looking down to her feet. "I've always wanted to be a surgeon but I wanted to do it by myself, I didn't want my parents' money," she said and I looked around. "They gave it to me for my birthday," she said and I nodded. "I joined the forces so I could pay for my education, I took online courses and I'm now on my last year of medical school," she said. "How old are you?" I asked. "27," she said and I nodded. "You've been asking a lot of questions now is my turn," she said and I nodded. "Why were drinking like that?" She asked. "Well, my girlfriend and I have gotten into a pretty bad argument," I said looking at my hands. "She's been meeting with her ex-girlfriend, and I let her because I thought I was being selfish if I asked her not to," I said fighting back tears. "Then she started meeting with her a lot more and she started pushing me away, I tried to talk to her but she chose to leave with her ex," I said. "I love her, I love her with all I have and I know she deserves so much better than a fucked up broken girl, but I don't want to give up on her, I want to marry her," I said. "I don't know what I did wrong, and how am I supposed to fix it when I don't even know what I did wrong," I said now crying. "And I just told you all this about my miserable life, and tomorrow it's going to be on every first page, I really am a mess aren't I?" I said hiding my face in my hands. I felt a little tap on my shoulder followed by a rub on my back. "Hey, she will come around, and the only thing you're gonna wake up to is a big ass hungover," she said patting my back. "I don't know, she forgot that today was my birthday," I said and she didn't say anything probably didn't know how to answer that.
I compose myself quickly giving her a smile. "What's your name?" I asked. "Serena, Serena Zhang," she said. "Almost like Christina Yang!" I said. "Omg and you're a surgeon too!" I said. "You think you're so funny, and not a surgeon yet," she said. "Well you were complaining I was being too rude, plus now we know each other's name, I'm allowed to tease you," I said. "I don't know your name yet," she said as "oh shit, I guess I forgot to introduce myself," I said laughing. "Gabby, Gabriella Hart," I said smiling and the look on her face was quite funny. "Omg you're the Gabriella Hart, daughter of Kathy and Marsh Hart?" She asked and I nodded. "Holy Shit, now I get why you were drowning your head on all that booze," she said. "Omg and now I understand why you said that everything that you told me was going to be all over the news," she said and I nodded. "I promise you what you've told me stays in this house," she said. "Doctor and patient confidentiality, right?" I asked and she nodded. "I'll get you some water," she said and I nodded. I let myself sink into the comfortable couch and I slowly started to fall asleep.
