VIISENYA'S protector felt them arrive in the night, not even the bloodcurdling howl of a wolf could save them. But in a sense, it did, for such a warning awoke Ser Barristan to the sight of Winterfell under attack. What was he to do with such information as this? Truly.
"Princess!" Insisted Barristan, as he shook her to the point of consciousness. The little boy that was curled around her stared in surprise.
"The men are here?" He asked.
"W-What?!" Hissed Visenya, bolting up in bed as if it all was a great shock. "Ser Barristan, what is going on?"
"Winterfell is under attack," he said with a slight frown upon his lips. "We must leave."
"What?" Screeched Visenya. "But it cannot be, the Lannister army, we would've known about it, or seen them approaching!"
"It wasn't them, Princess. I cannot be sure, I never got a good look at the men. But I think the leader is Theon Greyjoy." This was said with much reluctance as if he didn't completely believe it himself.
"What!" Exclaimed Visenya in shock. "Why would he attack Winterfell?"
"Men can do terrible things for power," said Barristan. "I would know, I've seen it all myself. Greed is a horrific thing."
"Okay," whispered Visenya. "W-We need to leave. Come on, Pup. We have to get up."
"Where are we going to go?" Asked Visenya looking to her sworn sword with a sigh. Winterfell was the only home she had ever truly know. How could she leave it all behind?
"I don't know," said Barristan. "But anywhere is better than here."
Rickon merely looked excited at the prospect of going on an adventure.
"There's always Essos," said Visenya.
"Your uncle, are you sure? The journey there could be quite dangerous. And we have to find a boat without being caught by Northerners or Lannisters. That will be quite difficult."
"I know," she whispered.
"No you don't. The whole of Westeros is at war. You've never seen the brutality of it. And you shouldn't, Princess. But I can't shelter you properly, not out there. And if we do go to Essos, we're still in danger from slavers."
