We live in a time of greed,
being good and giving to others is no longer a need,
no longer a requirement, although whether it ever has been is something we cannot see,
history excuses us, it issues no mandatory plea.
People are out for their own means,
since when was it human nature to think of no other with a conscious clean?
Only those of blood or of human bonds can be seen,
seen past the scope of themselves, the selfish gleam.
When before we had excuses, humanity finding its feet,
now we have no such reason, what is right and our means meet,
many of us privileged enough to think past the self and helps others find those same feet,
the stability of generations of greed is concrete.
Let us now rise one another up, tackle the problems of the collective,
problems that many of the most powerful view as a ploy to deceive,
but they are the ones that attempt to deceive,
a fad that will blow away in the next strong breeze.
They would create this gust though,
stand resolute and help the world continue to grow,
well-being, survival and ultimately prosperity can now outweigh the importance of economic flow,
let us now tackle what this greed has sown.
Money, party politics, and resources will all be irrelevant when the world spits us out,
and it will, we are but a blip that means naught,
naught to the universe unless we unite collective thought,
rally behind one banner is our only lasting resort.
There can be no justifiable retort to continue the narrow thinking,
what keeps us here is dwindling, it needs rekindling,
no longer can we be destructive, if we do there will be no alleviating,
let us coexist, coalesce with nature, we can no longer be king.
We did not come first, this world is not ours,
the world will not tolerate our perceived sole power,
it shall destroy us and crumble our ivory tower,
unless we bend the knee and work with it, now is the hour.
