You're gone and it is for the best,
if not for us, then for yourself,
no more suffering, no more frustration,
you are now without pain, you are free.
Although we will morn and sadness will dwell,
that simply illustrates a life lived properly, a life lived with love,
relationships were strong so that we notice when you are gone,
life is about these relationships, as they are what we can look back on with the utmost fondness.
You are somewhere where there are no restrictions on your well-being,
you can jam that harmonica from dawn till dusk,
an unimpeded dream where there is no need to put it down,
you can surround yourself in the rhythm.
Whenever we hear the pluck of a string or a rock n roll melody,
the mind will fix on you, even your name is what we associate it with,
perhaps I hold a bit of that spirit in me,
your namesake.
A regret is that I did not see a performance first-hand,
that I did not pick your brain of its creativity,
there was more in common there than I ever knew,
the ability is there in our blood.
Maybe had I asked, you would have been humble anyway,
you were always humble and underplayed your talent,
I beg that as you drift off to wherever you may dwell,
that you give them the gift of your passion, give them a performance.
Rest in peace,
And when you're not resting make sure you're jamming,
Ill catch one of your shows eventually,
It's not the end, life is just a step and a step you took in your own way.
