The Choices We Make

Chapter 3

"Hi Lance, I was wondering if you wanted to get together later and catch up?" she asks "sorry Suzi I'm not feeling to good, rain check for next week?" I say 

"Oh, do you need me to come over?" she asks "no Cody is here thanks." Cody puts his arms around my waist and leans his head into me. 

"Alright I'll catch you next week during orientation" she says. I end the call and look at Cody "feel better?" I ask "shouldn't I be asking you that?" he says I shrug "you're a horrible nurse.  You normally vanish or get lost in a video game" I tell him. 

"Yep, don't like taking care of the sick" he agrees. "Well this sick person feels tired again" I tell him heading towards the bed.

"Really? I was hoping we could you know? He says wiggling his eyebrows "go home Cody and play your games if you stay here and don't look after me, I'll end up getting pissed" I tell him and he pouts "tomorrow then?" he asks "can't got to go and finish the group assignment at Tor's" I tell him. 

"Shit, I'm going to walk around with a hard-on" he moans "come over tomorrow night" I offer and he smiles "thank you, I hate having to take care of it myself." "Make sure you shower before coming over and buy some soap?" I tell him and he kisses me and I see him out. 

I get back into bed and fall asleep almost immediately. I wake when it's dark outside.  I get up and wash, then go to the kitchen to find some food. "Bloody hell Cody, you've eaten everything" I mutter closing the fridge and grabbing my wallet.  

I head down to the row of shops not far from the condo and bump into my helpful neighbour.

"Hi thank you, for everything you did yesterday" I thank him "would you like to grab something to eat?" I add "I was just going to the noodle place" he says "great, mind if I tag along?"

We order our noodle's "My name is Lance by the way" I say introducing myself "Bright your neighbour" he replies. 

"I like your name, makes me want to smile" I tell him honestly.  He laughs "my Dad calls me his bright smile" he explains and I smile more. "Your Dad sounds like a cool dude" I say. 

"He is it's just me and my Dad now, Mum left when I was younger saying she didn't want to be tied down anymore" he tells me. 

"I've just got my Mum. My Dad died when I was 12. She lives in America now" I tell him. "Is your Mum American?" he asks and we start to talk about this and that. As I smile and pat my full stomach Bright takes my picture. 

"What's the title of that? Pig out?" I joke "fully stuffed" he offers and makes me laugh. 

"I have to go to the store and do a bit of shopping. Oh, that reminds me thank you for the soup. I eat all of it and nearly licked the bowl out it was so good" I ramble. 

He laughs "glad you liked it. I made more thinking it would do you some good.  I also put a little more medicine in it so that you would rest a bit more" he admits. 

"I did I slept all day but had to come out for food as Cody cleaned out the fridge" I pay the bill not letting him pay and we walk to the store to do a bit of shopping. 

"What is it you like about taking pictures?" I ask he shrugs "I like to capture memories every picture captured is another memory." I look at him as I carry my basket around the store. 

"I like the sound of that, but I don't really like having my picture being taken that much.  I've had to bite my tongue since coming here as people seem to like the fact, I'm gay and have a boyfriend.  If I was still in America no-one would give me a second look" I tell him. 

"I find that hard to believe" he says. Once we have our shopping, we head back to the condo building. "Hi Lance, Bright finally you've met" Wei the building supervisor says.
