The Choices We Make

Chapter 7

"You said that to stop me from twitching?" He smiles "well it happens to be true and I think you should keep an open mind about these things. Believe me you'd be pleasantly surprised" he says making my eyes nearly fall out.

"Great Dad another image, I'll need therapy to get over" I say chuckling as its been a long time since I saw Dad so happy.  The double doors swish open and P' Mount walks out wiping his brow. "We got to him in time his hand and arm was saved, but I've had to insert three pins in and a brace to hold the fracture in place. The pins will stay in and he will need to carry a medical card with him to travel overseas from now on. The three pins sticking out of the cast is for us to tighten and adjust the pins as the bone mends. Thankfully he has strong bones he must have really been pushed for the break to be so bad.  

He's also cracked a rib and the jolt he received today caused it to puncture his lung.  That has also been put back in place and bound tightly. The lung has been drained and stitched.  I'm sorry P' but he's going to have to stay in hospital for at least a week.  If you can get his laptop and books it would help not get him to stressed about his exams, I think. I know he said he didn't like bondage but he is going to be bound for a while sorry" he informs us 

"Doesn't like bondage, you don't hear that everyday?" Dad asks "he was high on the pain meds and P' Mount had mentioned having to bind the splint tightly.  He said he didn't like bondage but also said my voice made him hard" I say chuckling at the memory.   

I see Dad and my Brother share a look "what? What aren't you telling me? He is going to be fighting fit, again isn't he? He has to be? He loves the outdoors and ball sports" I say finding it hard to catch my breath.

"Hey Bright breath, that's it, in then out" Dad instructs and I copy him until I can breathe properly again.

"He's going to be fine.  Does he have family here that will come look after him?" my Brother asks I shake my head "his Mum lives in America. That's all the family he has I think." 

 P' Mount nods "good job he has you then, as you don't want the nurses helping him to shower and dress" he states before turning and heading back through the doors "you can see him soon" he calls as the doors shut. 

"Did you hear about the nurse stirring at him when I asked for some medicine to treat his bruised ribs.  I was giving him a sponge bath when I found the bruise so called for a nurse and she literally stared until I shouted at her and she snapped out of it?" I say feeling my anger raise again 

"I don't think I've been this angry for along time" I add tilting my head and wondering why I'm so angry.  I shrug when I remember P' Mount said I'd be able to see him soon. 

"Can we move to a room with a double bed or two beds?" I ask while I think of it again Dad seems to look at me before he nods. 

"Will you be alright now? I'll go and tell them to prepare a bigger room" he asks "thanks Dad, love you" I say hugging him "glad you've found someone too" I add and hug him tighter. 

"I've missed your Mother, but I think she would, even like him" he tells me hugging me back. 

He's never really gotten over Mum leaving the way she did.  He kisses my cheek and then waves as he walks away.  I stand up and start pacing waiting for someone to tell me I can see him.  

I have to wait for another 20 minutes but finally someone comes and takes me to another bigger room. This one has a King size bed in it, with a sitting area, large flat screen TV and small kitchen with a separate bathroom. I smile when I see Lance in the bed sleeping. 

I frown though when I see his bandage ribs and bare chest. His arm has been placed in a sling that is held a little away from his body by pulleys attached to the ceiling. "He will sleep for a while yet, please call me if you need anything" the male nurse says "my name is Rib" he says clasping his hands and bowing to me. I bow back and thank him and he leaves.
