Black Wings A Cast of Magic

Chapter 5

We packed everything in about five minutes and were going to the third story of the building. I looked around knowing that we could be caught sneaking away and put right back into the dungeons. if only it was as simple as walking out and leaving. it wasn't of course that simple.

As we ran we turned a corner a guard that was on post walked down the hall. across the hall but thankfully didn't see us.

it was incredibly quiet, to quiet, almost suffocating. I followed Bailey down another hall up two flights of stairs and onto a patio on the third floor where a zip line stood in all of its glory.

We got the rope sling that Bailey gave us and and ran to the zip line. As I ran the wind rushed past me in a flurry of motion making it harder and easier at the same time to run to the edge. I stopped just in time to not topple over the edge of a three story tall building.

Bailey looked at me and said with her eyes "I'll go first". then turned and put her rope around the zip line, then jumped.

I leaned over the edge as she glided down in a grace full and jumped off. the trees swayed a bit then in a quiet shout called up Bailey. "I'm fine". Kodi turned to me then said in a whisper. "I'll go last". I turned and grabbed the sling put it over the rope and jumped.

The wind was rushing in and if I wasn't escaping i would've had a lot of fun. I heard a scream, then I was falling there was a tingling sensation in my upper back, head and lower back.

it was all a blur as black wings erupted from my back, red fox ears and tail sprouted and I flew up where Kodi was was in a choke hold by one of Callrooks guards. I looked over at Bailey and then Kodi and shout I'd take care of the guard. I swooped down not looking at what I was doing and tackled the guard.

Kodi fell to the floor, turned around and punched the guard. Right in the face. I smirked as the guard yipping and howling in pain as he ran into the house.

Callrook looked furious and stormed into the house probably to get more guards.

I glanced at Kodi and looked at where previously the zip line originally sat. I walked over to Kodi and said. "I need to fly you down." Kodi gave a panicked look and and did a small nod. I grabbed around his waist and lifted him into the air.

Kodi looked down as I strained to lift him and started to hyperventilate and thrash. Down bellow Bailey was trying to get out of the way so that we didn't crash into her.

I finally got low enough to drop Kodi as i collapsed from exhaustion. Panting and whimpering like an animal. When Bailey finally looked at me her jaw dropped.

I looked at her in confusion and then understood as she pointed at me. oh my wings. i thought.

I asked. how what???

my mind couldn't wrap around the fact that i had wings and fox ears and tail. it wasn't possible.

your the raven Kodi whispered its official. Kodi and Bailey stared at me and their jaws practically dropped to the floor. it was kinda hilarious. though honestly what did i know about that kind of stuff i had never had friends other then my pets.

My mind was a jumble only one sentence was perceptible. how is this possible.

bailey turned and said. we have to go. she then ran into the forest.

I started running after her with Kodi in the back i was faster than I normally was but i couldn't get my wings to work for me.

we wound through the trees as silent as i could which was really quiet saying i was normally crashing through the trees like a baboon.

after at least five minutes of running we slowed down. I was breathing quite heavily and was startled that it took so much energy to run now. of course it was i had wings to carry so that had something to do with it.

Kodi slowed at my side with Bailey confidently striding ahead of us. I finally had the voice to ask. where are we going?

Bailey turned around and said. to the spirit-fox layer. Kodi I noticed was gaping again and i was confused. What's a spirit-fox? Kodi turned at me like I was crazy and in some circumstances i was. What i yipped back at him and noticed that my voice got this new fox-like high pitch now.

The spirit-fox is one of the rarest and hard to find creatures in the world and they're extremely intelligent they can use telepathy to communicate and will only let trusted humans near their layers.

how are we supposed to get there?

Bailey said in a mysterious voice. "You'll get there with my help".

the mystery part of of that made me kinda annoyed. why couldn't she just tell us it wasn't bad was it. this circled on a play track over and over again.

If only I knew. my wings flexed and my tail fluffed up as my ears pinned back.

ugh I wanted to know how to fix myself and go back to my human form. But I didn't so I was stuck like this. I sighed. If only- No I wouldn't think of that. the what if trail was endless.

I quickly started walking toward the sun.

Kodi coughed. I turned. "What." I said exasperated.

Kodi sheepishly said. it's the other way. then turned and followed Bailey.

A/N: This took FOREVER to write even though its kinda short I hope that I'll have the next chapter soon but right now HW and Violin are my priority so plan on update's being sparse and infrequent for another month.
